Is there any program(s) at Ventress to learn a vocation?

The website says they offer vocational classes through Sparks Technical. I guess it depends on how long they are there. My son has not been offered to take any classes. Who do you have there? Have you visited there?

My son says the DOC will pay for one at Staton, he can apply for others if he (I) pay for them.

I have a nephew there, he is a good kid with a bad drug problem. The trouble is that he started using drugs heavily at about 17-18 when most kids his age are learning a vocation (or in college) unfortunately, like so many of the kids in his generation, he has NO life skills. We had heard of a program called "life tech" which is supposed to teach inmates things like keeping a checkbook, paying bills, learning a trade, so that they will be able to be productive. It's a shame that this type of training is not offered everywhere, a lot of these guys have no idea (at least this one dosen't) the basics and sooner or later, get frustrated in trying to "live normally" and end back up in the same situation. He is erolled in SAP but has yet to actually start the program.
