I was wondering how many of you were able to send out care packages? My sweetie received his last week...& was very excited. Since there's so little "extra" we can do for our loved ones...I always go out of my way to make the things I can do for him special. When they were opening his package...they were commenting on his items...saying "Oh, she must REALLY LOVE YOU"! I got his t-shirts, socks, & thermals at Foot Locker...towels, washcloths, & boxers at JC Penneys (Egyptian Cotton, of course!) ;) Everything that's washable...I wash before packing/sending. He loves the way my freshly laundered clothes smell...so I wash his things too. It reminds him of home. He tries to "save" them as long as he can before wearing them. He doesn't want to loose the smell. Isn't that sweet? They were saying "Oh, everything smells so good...folded up perfectly". Talk about being on cloud 9! He said it made him feel really special...grinning from ear to ear! Especially to see that others notice the extra efforts of love that was put into it, too. I just wish there was more we could do for our loved ones.

Are they still holding his care package "hostage"? Good Lord...it's just hygiene products & undies...basic neccesaties! I hope everything works out ok.

Yep, its still being held hostage! I didn't even buy everything, so its not like it ought to be a huge massive deal to them. Hygiene items, towels, and writing stuff! To my way of thinking, it is not a PRIVILEGE to be clean and smell good -- its a right! Grrrrr...... it really just punishes ME because it wasted MY money and he is still gonna have to have this stuff anyway, so that's DOUBLE the expense for something really, really stupid. I'm sorry.... you asked a simple yes or no question and I just got all carried away!! ;-) I'm glad your man enjoyed his so much... it sounds like you put so much love and thought into it!

It's funny how we take things for granted. My son called when he got his package and all he could talk about was how good everything smelled. I wash everything also. He was even more excited to have a good toothbrush, pantene shampoo and a ballcap. It made me realize he does notice the small things in life. I guess it is not so small to him. He grew up with anything and everything he ever wanted. He now realizes just how good he had it all his life. Just when I thought there was no hope, I see a big change.

Staton is not getting any. I spent 300 and bought tee shirts with sunscreen, etc. they are sitting at his girlfriend's house in Montgomery

I sent one too and it arrived without any problems ;) But I wasn´t sure if everything would work- it is my first one, despite the food package last December.

I haven't heard recently, but the word is because the state won't approve. I am in Virginia. Has anyone heard?

Yes, I wash everything. He's received them with no problem. Suggestion: If you want to do the same...I know now, alot of items (like t-shirts, socks, etc...) are packaged by the manufacturer with resealable packaging (I guess because so many people break open the bags to check sizes, they've switched to the ziplock bag style of packaging)...you could wash & repackage them. With towels...they're not packaged....so if nothing else...wash those. You may try to pop them in the dryer a minute with a fabric softener sheet. It shouldn't mess up the tags as long as you watch the heat setting. Nothing smells better than home.
