i talked to the chaplain at bibb several months ago about the possibility of my son who is a christian inmate entering the faith dorm.i had thought that this was a dorm for christian inmates, but i am now being told that this is where inmates are put for "protective custody". sex offenders, pedifiles and i guess the inmates whom the general population inmates might harm. is this fair to the christian inmates? aren't they in danger from the general population whom don't know nor want to know GOD?

I'm not sure about Bibb (my guy is at Holman)...but I haven't heard that (protective custody thing). I know at Holman you have to meet certain requirements to enter the Faith Based Honor Dorm.

At Staton the faith dorm is for religious people of any faith, there is a waiting list. My son says there is less drug use, homsexual activity, agression, it is much better.

My husband is in the faith dorm at Fountain. It is alot better than the other dorms. There are alot of different rules in there. You can not get into any troulbe before you can go into it. It has more priviledges then other dorms. YOu also have to go to church twice a week. My husband is alot better now since he got accepted.

Usually the faith dorm, you have to meet certain requirements to be in there. The faith dorm has more privlledges its sort of like a honor dorm. You can't be in any trouble or have any sort of write ups to be in there. There are different religous faiths in the faith dorm.

all that may be true at other prisons,i don't know.i only know that at Bibb i was told by the chaplain that it is for "prtective custody".and my son has backed this up.whether or not you get in is up to one captain.my son has never had a citation nor a disaplinary, goes to church ,has numerous awards for bible studies, has been recomended for the kiros program, yet was told by this captain that he would have to prove that his life was in danger before he could get into the '"FAITH" dorm
My son was in the faith dorm there and it didn't have anything to do with protective custody. It was more peaceful there and they have inmates watch the dorm because not just anyone can come in the dorm. My son's life wasn't in danger when he was in there either. I have never heard of such unless they have changed things there.

how long was your son there? all i know is this is what i was told by chaplain smith and then my son was told by captain freeman, who seems to have control over who goes to faith dorm that he would have to prove that his life was being threatened or was in danger.i feel that my son has earned the right to go there and should not have to be in danger, which they all are just from being in prison. i think sometimes that it is a discrimination thing.

yes tidefanz, i've heard that the kiros program is a great program.the chaplain at bibb had my son all set up for it when he was moved to the crimebill dorm and he could not participate in both.ofcourse crimebill came first, but he will graduate in july and i pray that he can then go into kairos.he was very excited when it was offered back in january.
