View Full Version : beaumont usp on lockdown? kbates8900 05-19-2007, 12:59 PM can inmates still receive mail on lockdown??:( irshnrse 05-19-2007, 11:19 PM Is Beaumont on lockdown? wizard 05-20-2007, 12:52 AM yes to both questions. irshnrse 05-20-2007, 01:06 AM Do you know why they are on lockdown? My brother-in-law is there. TN-Family-28 05-22-2007, 12:12 AM My husband is there and I got a letter from him today that he wrote on the 17th and he said they went on lockdown on the 17th because somebody got stabbed. He just got there on May 4th and I think they have been on lockdown 2 or 3 times. Yes, they can still get mail and they can send mail out. They just don't get to go on the yard, watch TV or anything else outside their room/cell. irshnrse 05-22-2007, 07:50 AM Thank you. Baby Girl27 05-22-2007, 08:58 AM Yes, they definitely are on lock down. I visited my hubby at the camp over the weekend. An inmate got his throat slashed. It can get really crazy. They will be locked down for a while. TN-Family-28 05-23-2007, 01:45 AM My husband says it is the CRAZIEST place he has ever been! I just keep praying that God will keep a hedge of protection around him. My hubby said that the latest stabbing happened during breakfast and that he was headed out and saw the guy standing there holding his throat with blood pouring out. This was after someone getting stabbed right in front of him about 3 days before that. To me it sounds like hell on earth and they all need God's presence to sweep through there. Stay strong Beaumont families! Hubie 05-24-2007, 02:01 AM Just checking in and sharing what I know. My son is also in Beaumont USP. Got a phone call yesterday morning. They are still on lockdown. They are letting them out (a few at a time to shower and have a 5-minute phone call). He says that they are toying with the idea of whether to let a few of them wash their clothes tomorrow or not. There was an incident and it is true about the stabbing. It appears that when the CO’s think things are settled down, the rage starts to flare up again and of course, they are always concerned about retaliation. He went on to say that for the most part everyone was pretty calm because they want out, but there is always that few. It appears to be a racial thing. Let’s just keep them and Florence USP in prayer and believe God for Peace. I had planned a visit this month; however, after calling was told by the prison that if I came (all the way from California), I could only get a 2-hour window visit – if that! I was advised to wait until things settled down. Also he said that if our love ones were not immediately involved in the situation at hand that they would be given 5-minute telephone calls every three days. Now I don’t know if he was brushing me off or not, but my son did get a 5-minute call and believe me the telephone cut off in 5 minutes. Please share any information you get. May the God of Glory just keep his Peace Angels encamped around the prisons and watch over our love ones. wizard 05-24-2007, 03:22 AM Just checking in and sharing what I know. If I'm understanding what you said (I may not be) you stated someone told you that while they are on lock down if you came for visitation you would "only get a 2-hour window visit". When there is a lockdown at USP Beaumont there are no visits at all unless it is an "arranged" legal visit. Just wanted to clarify that in case that is what you were told. When there is normal operations visitation is from 8am-3pm thurs-monday (visitation is closed on tues and wed). wizard 05-25-2007, 12:47 AM USP Beaumont is no longer on lockdown.
