my young friend in prison told me that his mental health testing taken in intake showed high probability for emotional or mental illness. he was also told the system would nothing to help or treat him. What is the point of testing them then? what does it accomplish. what is it used for? is it used against him at some later date?

I don't know about Oregon but in Calif. to be eligible for some minimum security facilities you must have a mental health clearence, for like CCF's (community correctional facilities), fire camp, some level 1 yards, & possibly 1/2 way houses. A good friend of mine got a bad mental health evaluation, & it took him years to get it off his record. Others might have another take on this.------Ken


P.S. Your right he probably wont get any help. They dont offer any here, about the only thing they will do for you is give you meds, which can mess you up even more.

I had a conversation (ha, ended with me hanging up on her) with an aquantence who is a guard, who use to be a nurse aid in prison. During the call it got around to use of meds or rather, abuse of meds (this, she and I agreed on, the abuse) that are issued to inmates. In most instances they are used as a form of control. Ken is right they don't care about helping the inmate and only end up "messing them up".
Of course, what I speak of is TX and as Ken said, OR may go about it differently.

In all my experiencewith being classified in the mental wards in prison is this: First to be classifed was not so easy and my son had a long history of Brain Disorder since the age of 11.
Courts then and now refuse to adknowledge this.

Yes they might , MIGHT get their meds. They all so will be abusing them. but for my son he needs meds. Throudh all the years of torture abuse and neglect in the system he can not survive now with out them. :(

Jimmy was not a abuser of meds till the system got him. Now i know with a miracle if he is ever released we then have to deal with the meds abuse.
The system took a young boy at twelve and punished him for being sick and continue to do it. They set him up time after time and yes I have documentation to prove it and what good it does me with out money to hire hot lawyer is 0.

Now in corcoran they want to take the medical inmates and experiment on them!
It is dam scary.
