I haven't heard from her - no phone call, no letter, no e-mail. Is she allowed to correspond during the orientation period?? I am wondering why she hasn't contacted me and I need to know she is ok. cyellowc 05-15-2007, 05:19 AM in what area is the halfway house and how are you feeling?:) I just recently got out of Alderson Federal Prison Camp. ActuallyNice 06-03-2007, 09:36 AM The BOP states there is a minimum of 4 hours of visitation allowed each month. What is the normal amount of hours you are allowed visitors? How do you get to the maximum? thank you opiniongirl 07-22-2007, 10:23 PM What does MINIMUM visitation hours mean? Am I miunderstanding? Ilene 08-14-2007, 08:59 PM I Was Also Just Released From Alderson In June. My Daughter Is Still There And Has Some Medical Problems And They Don't Seem To Want To Do Any Thing For Her. I Was Only There For Three Months And I Had No Medical Issues. There Was Lots Of Other Girls There Who Do Have And Are Not Being Treated. It Is Not The Best Canp In The System Like They Want People To Believe. Ilene 08-14-2007, 09:06 PM The Visiting Days Are Thurs , Fir. Sat Sun And Mon And You Can Only Visit For 4 Hours Any Of Those Days. People Come And Stay And Visit Two Or Three Days In A Row. You Can Only Visit Four Hours A Day. One Lady Family Comes Every Two Weeks And Visit Her As Soon As Your Mom Turns In A List Of Phone Numbers And Has Money On Her Phone Account She Can Call Home. And Alderson Does Have E Mail And It Is Cheaper To Use Than The Phone. My Daughter E Mail Me Two Or Three Times A Day. I Spend A Lot Of Time On The Computer. lyndav 08-15-2007, 07:44 AM Agree with Ilene. Alderson is not the best camp in the system. It just looks nice. sampson 08-15-2007, 03:30 PM Information about Alderson!! E-mails are the best way to communicate, the cost is 5 cents a minute. I have visited my friend there three times already, and you can visit for longer than four hours. Fridays, they start letting you in at 2:15pm to be processed, can stay till 9:15pm. Other days starting at 8:15am, out at 3:15pm The line to be processed can get long during holidays, helps to be in front of the line, You're not allowed on prison grounds until 30 minutes before visitation. Folks line up outside the gate sometimes the night before so they can be first in line. Sometimes it can take up to an hour just to get checked in to see your friend, then the wait for them to get there. The worst thing my friend has experienced is the heat in the summer, "NO" air-conditioning!! Alderson does have it's own web site for information on all the rules for the prison, you can also e-mail them with "any" questions, I got a response the same day.. Feel free to contact me with any questions. I'm going again next Monday!! Sampson ackykaky 08-28-2007, 01:10 PM I don't have any information, but my sister went in July for 46 months....so I have a couple questions: 1. Can I send her books? or packages? 2. Can they make phone calls? 3. How much money should I have put on her account? and how often? 4. Does anyone know how much the donation is for Alderson Hospitality House? As you can tell, my sister hasn't provided much information...I even have to fill out my own visitation request. Help:( kittylitter 08-31-2007, 09:46 AM Just as an FYI, someone posted that there is a 4 hour visit time limit at Alderson and that is not that rule at Alderson. We visit twice or so a month and and you can visit the whole visitng hours time frame UNLESS there is an overcrowding issue in which case it is "usuualy" first in first out and visit ends up about 3 hours or so. But again that is on a case by case basis depending on the crowd and weekend. Normally we have not been terminated early, but this summer, which is the busier visiting crowd, has been terminating visits early. lyndav 08-31-2007, 12:29 PM My daughter is at Alderson. Visits to her have never been terminated early (so far) and her son has stayed for the full six or seven hours each time. We can send her paperback books and magazines or magazine subscriptions. The hard cover books must come from a vendor...i.e., Amazon. Phone calls are limited to 300 minutes per mo. and the cost is $79. They have email and it is on a per minute basis...I'm not sure of the cost per minute but we find this is the easiest, quickest and least expensive way to keep in touch. We put about $150 per month in her account because she has restitution taken out. The hospitality house is great and take whatever you can give. Lyn kittylitter 09-01-2007, 12:09 AM Jst FYI on the A/C notes: There are two main buildings that house all inmates since the cottages were closed. Both buildings have two levels and are spilt into 4 what they call ranges (two ranges on each floor half and half) There is A/C in some areas. The "A" building which is the first stop by most for a bed, does not have A/C, how ever the "B" building does have A/C which some get moved to and some stay in the A building. Think it depends on what job you end up with is where you get designated. Some of the buildings like Libray and education do have A/C. Anyway just have seen a lot of postings saying there is no A/C, this is not so. BB313 12-10-2007, 09:07 AM Hi, Below is the post I submit asking some questions, I have since received information that said that just because the Judge says O.K. to Aldersen it does not mean I will go there, that it is up to the BOP. Is that your understanding? Also they said since I have been a teacher that I could not teach - also is that your understanding? Finally I was told that the Addiction Program would not get me one year because of my short time but that it would more than likely get me only 6 months off - do you know? I would appreciate any answers you can give me. Thanks in advance and below is the first thread I posted. First of all I thank God I have found this forum. I was feeling so down after my sentencing. Just reading the post has helped me a lot. I received 35 months with 6 months in a half-way house, and the Judge agreed to let me go to Alderson. I will be self-surrendering next month (I still do not have a date). My lawyer has told me that I qualify for a Alcohol program and that this will take a year (12 months) off my sentence if I successfully complete this program. Does that seem correct? How much time does it sound like I would be away. My daughter is having a hard time and I am trying to help comfort her. Please could I get up-dated information on Alderson? (What I have read is a few years old). I am over-weight and I have a problem walking. From what I have been reading, it seems that the first few months are spent in an open dorm like sleeping area where I would be sleeping in bunk- beds. I know it sounds silly but I don't think I could get up on the top bunk. I have worked in a library and I have been a teacher, which do you think would be a better job for me to ask about? Thanks again for this opportunity to get some information and I know I will have more questions. |
