My man was recently transferred to SCC and he's on Mariposa yard. It seems like they have been on lockdown for awhile...does anyone have any info? When on lockdown, does mail go in and out and how frequently? Also, are they able to use the phones? ... any information is greatly appreciated...

The prison has to keep the mail going-lockdown or not. They always receive their mail, however, Sierra Conservation Center lags giving the mail to the inmates. The inmates mail goes to the mailroom Sunday through Thursday-Friday and Saturday there is no pickup. It has been my experience that I recieve letters from my man within a day or two-where he gets my letters from 1 week to 2 weeks after I mail it. Sometimes-LONGER. As far as the phone-anyone who is on lockdown is not suppose to use the phone at all. I have heard that some guys sneak on....but I wouldn't know anything about that...(-; I have been learning about SCC since September of last year, so if you have any more questions and I know the answer-I am here for ya!!

Charlie--you are right. My man has been at SCC for a year and the mail really does suck. They send letters out Sunday-thru-Thursday like you said. The guys have to have it ready to be mailed by dinner time. It normally takes 1-2 days for me to get a letter from my man and and almost 2 wks for him to get a letter from me....it is crazy!!!
