bcdcamalot 05-05-2007, 05:38 PM HI everyone, My better half was sentenced in Sept 06 to 3.5 years...He started out in Fairfax...don't ever get arrested in Fairfax for anything, including jaywalking...then he went to Powhatan and now he was transferred to his permanent place which is Haynesville....he's been in 7 mths and we have 2 yrs, 3mths left until he comes home. Of course if they ever pass Senate Bill SB105S1, his time could be cut and I'll have him home sooner.
Nicole1079 05-05-2007, 05:45 PM bcdcamalot - My guy is actually in Fairfax right now. What is the Senate bill you are refering too?
bcdcamalot 05-05-2007, 05:50 PM it gives time off for good behavior and reading and getting your GED..you can read about in on the Virginia General Assembly web site....there's been no action since 12/06 but it's in a committee for review and possible amendment....check it out...oh by the way, Fairfax is the worst place....the food, the way the Police want to bes yell and scream in their faces...as if our situation isn't bad enough....I would drive 2 hours one way to see him and every week, different guards, different rules....depends on their moods...
bcdcamalot 05-05-2007, 05:56 PM I am really confused how this site works...can anyone help?

Are you looking to post? I would check out all the intro posts they have and possibly contact the moderators too.....
If I can help I will.... I am here in VA like you and Nicole.....
dwfighterva 05-05-2007, 08:31 PM The senate bill got merged with another one and then got soundly beaten and never left committee. Hopefully it will be drafted and introduced again next year. In the mean time, we are stuck with the 85% for good time. :(

Monelissa 05-11-2007, 08:56 AM Welcome Nicole! This site is full of support and information. We all are or have gone through the separation of having a loved one incarcerated. I hope the time flies by for you. My fiance has been gone now for 9 months and he has about 10 more to go so I am counting down the days! :)
boandmelissa 05-17-2007, 11:16 AM Welcome! This website is great. My fiance has been down for a 2yrs, 7 months and I'm not sure when he gets out. He is serving some time under the old law, which basically means his date can change. My fingers are crossed that he's out by the end of 2008.
If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask. There are tons of very knowledgable people out there in the same situation as you.
The prison family is a close one.

nithtmare 08-15-2008, 09:41 AM Hi nichole, Glad you found this site. It can be a great comfort sometimes, but the people are great. I wonder If I will ever meet any of them when I go to visit my son in Dillwyn and not ever know that they are the person that got me through that day when I wasn't sure I would make it. It does get a little easier but every once in a while the dragon comes in and Pow! you're in another world. These ladies and gents are there and answer questions and that help greatly. Hang in and we are here. Take care becky
