View Full Version : Awaiting my Fate in Virginia
steph0219 05-03-2007, 09:58 AM Hello
My name is Stephanie and I am waiting my fate here in Virginia... I am expected to appear in court next week for my pleas and I am really scared! I have had a hard road these past five months and it is all my doing. I have destroyed so many lives in the process and now I am trying to repair the damage and some how become a better person and learn to live a life the way God would want me to....
I am truly grateful for finding this site. It has truly helped me.
I am ashamed of all the media attention and the pain I have caused. I hope that I can get through this with my sanity!!!
I have never been in trouble with the law expect for minor traffic tickets. I feel like I am going to throw up when I enter that courtroom next week.
I am assuming after my plea my sentencing date will be set. I am glad to have met some great people already on here, especially Friscolady, Faith07 and Bigrich.
My crime I am accused of is a white collar crime and first time offense....We will see.
I know many of you don't know me but would you please keep me in your prayers???? I can really use them....
Take Care and thanks for listening (reading)
dwfighterva 05-03-2007, 10:28 AM Hi Stephanie!
I am sorry you are having to face this but you are getting informed and that is the best thing you can do in this situtation. The more you know, the better. I wish I had a crystal ball to tell you how it would go, but I don't. Boy wouldn't that come in handy with lottery numbers?
Pull all the strength you need to walk in there and show the judge you not only are remorseful but that you are living with the regret. They see all types of people all day long, every day, so if you project an honest approach to this, they will see that and appreciate it.
I wish you the best of luck and will send you good thoughts. If there is anything we can do, please holler. ((((HUGS))))

krummy 05-03-2007, 10:32 AM Steph, we are all here for you. This is one place you can definitely count on for support and prayers. Just keep the faith and pray a lot and God will see you through this. What ever happens we will all be here praying for you and hoping for the best. Keep the faith and God bless you
Steph do you have any idea where you will be or how much time you will have to give them?
Just stay strong, pray and decide that when one looks up the definition of a model prisoner -your picture will be there. Well, maybe not..you don't want that publicity I guess, but my point is just go, do your time, and get back home. You will have a brand new life waiting for you on the outside..without panic attacks or the feeling of impending doom over you. I know you can do it.
I send hugs and prayers.

Hello Demi,
Where I go depends on my sentencing here in Virginia. If it is less than two years I can have several options that the judge could impose
1 - House Arrest
2 - Local Jail (1yr or less)
3- County Jail (2yr or less)
If I get more than this then it is off to probably Fluvanna for me....
I am looking at 2-5 (actual time). This is the guidelines that has been calculated from sentencings acroos the U.S. and then averaged...
At this point I am being very realistic and looking at 5 years..that way my hopes aren't up and I am not disappointed at sentencing...
(((hugs))) back at you! I will keep you in my prayers too...
dwfighterva 05-04-2007, 10:09 AM I have seen posts about what your charges are and you need to look at what Virginia sentencing guidelines are and not look at the US averages. Virginia doesn't give one rip about how anyone else does things.

Also, in Virginia, if your sentence is less than a year, you will do your time in the local jail where your charges are. If it is more than a year, you will go into a state DOC facility. Home monitoring is usually only done if the judge puts it into his sentencing order.
I wish you the best of luck on all this, but I also want you to be thoroughly knowledgeable about what you are up against to be better prepared.

http://www.vcsc.state.va.us/codes_qbe.cfm I knew this the moment I sat down with my lawyer back in December.:(

Thank you for the info. The guidelines call for 2-5 actual time. As my lawyer stated. Of course a judge can do what they want. As far as H.A. yes I would be eligble if I got 2yrs or less. My lawyer also told me if it is less than a year it is "jail" not "prison". If I get two years there is the possiblilty of staying local due to the over crowding.
I feel I have a great lawyer who is doing everything he can for me. He is has done a lot for me.... My situation could have been worst.
I am really upset and nervous but I am accepting my fate and I have to do what is right...
Abercrombiegrl 09-25-2007, 06:56 PM Anyone who is looking at time make sure at you sentencing when they ask you if you have anything to say you have something prepared ive seen judges take off years for this especially on drug charges
dwfighterva 09-25-2007, 08:57 PM Just as an update, in case anyone who reads this and doesn't know, Steph was sentenced to 120 years, with 117 suspended so she has to do 3 years which means a little over 2.5 years. Her husband posts on PTO.
I did send her a card and she wrote back, but I had to focus on moving so I regret I didn't write back to her....YET. She sounded in good spirits and was making friends and helping others inside.
hiphip72 09-27-2007, 08:39 PM Ok can I tell you how retarded 120 yrs with 117 suspended sounds? I bet when Steph 1st heard that she near bout had a heart attack! I thought it was bad when they said T gets 9yrs with 5 suspended. Whew!
calmeblondy 10-06-2007, 06:27 AM Stephanie , I know how you and your family feel, I faced a judge, well I was balling my eyes out the entire time,They had to stop my time and come back to me, I couldn't stop crying, when I had time to talk, I spoke dirrectly to the judge, unfortunately I didn't finish what I meant to say because the judge shot fire ball eyes at me, I clammed up, write your coments and don't look at any one till your done. Not sure what you did, but I got 5 yrs probabation, had the snow white record like you did. good luck, 1 thing I was told that helped all along, as the husband was sent away for a good time, was Remember every day is 1 day closer to freedom, and They can't keep any one for ever, God Bless you, pray often, stay busy, time flies when you stay busy, also ask for sleeping pills from the doctor and prozack as perscriptions before you get sent in. they got to keep you on what you are on, it helped my time, well It did a little, Gosh I don't kknow you but I feel like crying, ok I am crying, please just be safe, be careful .. warm hugs tell family to start shopping for sweats ect, it get awful cold in those dam places. read read read
barb-k 10-07-2007, 08:21 AM 120 years????? What the heck did she do?????
Daveswife 10-08-2007, 01:07 PM 120 years????? What the heck did she do?????
DW can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe she wrote 120 checks on the company accounts (the co she worked for). She was convicted of embezzlement I believe. 1 yr for every check written.
barb-k 10-08-2007, 01:20 PM ok
thanks
Still seems pretty stiff for a white collar crime... but what the heck do I know....
dwfighterva 10-08-2007, 06:36 PM No, the time wasn't based on how many checks she wrote. I think she only had 6 charges but each one carried some serious time.
So what does that tell you about our system? They are increasing more time on property crimes than on people crimes.
AndILoveHim 04-03-2008, 10:20 AM 120 years????? What the heck did she do?????
lol - I know!! it sounds like if she has killed somebody! -- I hope she's doing ok and she get out of jail soon! She sounded like a pretty reasonable girl. Good luck Steph and keep your chin up, girl :)
