Love'n'motion, i hope ur visit went well. My man was just transferred to Jamestown, so I was wondering if u can give me some info on ur experience with visiting. I'm in LA and I'm debating if driving is better than flying...have u ever stayed the night in a hotel up there? any info is greatly appreciated!

My man is in Jamestown. The visiting is pretty easy as far as visiting goes. You'd be best to wear all black...nothing tight...no v-neck shirts...no scoop necks...they are getting real strict on the dress code. I was just there last weekend visiting my man. They can not get up from the table. You basically will have to wait on him...hahaha--funny..i know. You can take $30.00 per person..mostly in $1.oo's or change. Visiting is Saturday and Sunday, you wanna try to be there early. You cannot be on prison grounds before 7:00am. Visiting is from 8:30 to 4:00. Yeah it is kind of warm there...thank god for a/c in the visiting room!!! You might even want to bring a sweater....

Are you kidding me, a/c? It's a big swamp cooler that blows around warm air. Summer time is not fun up there especially when the visiting room is full of warm bodies. Hot and stinky.

The men can only get up from the table to go to the bathroom or a quick stretch break.

I personally have never had a problem with wearing a v-neck t-shirt. I wear one every weekend. Just make sure it isn't low and it has sleeves.

Thanks Mrswalker...yeah you are right about the swamp cooler thing...but at that point anything is better than nothing, right? 2 weeks ago when i was there visiting my man i have on a v-neck and it was not even low...the guards came over and asked me to pull it up...there was nothing showing at all....it was actually quite funny!!!

tamnbensimmons & mrswalker88, thank you for the info! this weekend will be my first visit at SCC since my guy is finnnnallly off of lockdown...any suggestions or useful info that I need to keep in mind since I will be driving 6 hrs? do i have to wear closed-toed shoes, are there any rules on jewelry? also, the $30, can it be in rolls of quarters and do I have to carry it in a sandwich bag? is there a long line of cars to get in? anything else you can think of?? i would really appreciate any info needed for a first time visitor to SCC!!! thanks again!

The dress is pretty casual.......the shoes don't matter, it just cannot be slippers. Your best bet as far as clothes goes...is to wear black and nothing low cut.....they are being real real picky about clothes. $30.00 is the max, but it is per person. There is no restraints on jewelry but just remember that you have to take off all jewelry in order to go thru the metal detectors. Yes the line starts about 630 am. They have baggies there for your money. I will also be there visiting my man with our kids...if you wanna meet we can do so...I will have 2 bloys with me...one is 4 and then there will be a 13 yr old blond boy with me....let me know...
