My man was just transferred to Gouverneur. How are the visits there? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also, what time does the hospitality house open.

(Please note that this is the only facility that I have visited, so I have no comparison)....but I enjoy our visits. They start at 8:30 (although I don't get there until about 10...lol) They last until 2:45 and if it's warm you can go outside. Also, they allow smoke breaks, so bring cigs (or you can ask someone....if I am there you can most certaintly get one from me) for your inmate. Also, you must drop off packages, leave money, and pay for pictures prior to the visit. There is a festival coming up on May 19th, too. Hope this helps...please let me know if you have any more questions. WifeNicAtNite 05-02-2007, 02:03 PM I used to visit Gouverneur (quite a while ago) but to add on to what Mrsgooch said... (I've been to many facilities) and Gouverneur visits were pretty relaxed and laid back. The C.O.'s were not bad. I've visited other places that were horrible. If you're planning on staying overnight there are no major hotels in the immediate vicinity. There is a wonderful B&B in town and the people that run it are really nice. terryned 05-02-2007, 03:41 PM Thanks for the info. I am driving up this friday. Do you know more or less what time the bus makes it up there. I want to try to get in before the bus gets there. What time does the hospitality house open? If you get there earlier, do they allow you to wait for the hospitality house to open? I've visited other facilities and they are all different. I think that if I drive 354 miles I want to try to get as many hours in the visit as possible. I booked a room in Watertown for this weekend until I can get a sense of the area. Thank you Mrsgooch and Wifenicatnite. WifeNicAtNite 05-02-2007, 03:55 PM Thanks for the info. I am driving up this friday. Do you know more or less what time the bus makes it up there. Which means you have to leave the hotel rather early. When I used to go the bus arrived rather early. I'm not sure of the exact time. I know someone that visits there. I'll ask her and I'll let you know. Drive safely and enjoy your visit! terryned 05-02-2007, 04:03 PM Thank you. I would greatly appreciate it. |
