Hi, I took a request from a yahoo group and posted it here. I got a response from a PTO member and pasted it back on that group. However, though I stated I was trying to get her info from someone who knows, I think she thought the information was from me. Anyhow, she needs help and any information, so I am posting her message to me here.

Hi Holly,
I need your help. Pleaseeeeee!!!!!!! My husband is at Avenal State Prison and my husband is not doing very well. One of his tests came back abnormal and he thinks his brain tumor is back. Well money wise I am very short right now. But I am going to try to go up there for the weekend anyways. I have not been able to see him since June because I do not have a reliable car. I had saved this email below just in case I ever got to go. Well I am going to do it. I am doing it on a shoe string but I am going.I was able to borrow a car for the weekend but I do not know my way around there. I have only been there once. For he just got transferred there around May. I see that below you wrote information about the different motels. How much do they cost usually?I need the cheapest possible. And how do I get there. Is there a way you can give me some directions? And the new appointment system. I have to work tomarrow until 2 in the afternoon and I cannot call from work. Is there a way to get around that? I am coming over 250 miles. I so appreciate any advice anybody can give me. Thanks.
Love Mary

For visitation schedule, call (800) 374-8474 - available 24hr/day. This really should be her first step since certain buildings/yards may have restricted visitation!! As for directions, where is your friend travelling from? Avenal prison is located about 15 miles west of Interstate 5. The closest town is Kettleman City and there are only two motels (a Best Western and either a Super8 or Motel6), both located right off the freeway.

thanks pimakat. I'm going to try to get her over here. It would be so much easier.

I used to stay at the Motel 6 in Coalinga. It was just a few miles farther but cheaper. $39.99/nigh and you can get specials off the net. Alot of the ladies stayed there. Anyway, hope this helps. :) izzy
