I have a long history of opium and pot abuse. I have had it kicked for well over a year now. I was convicted in june for having pot (stems that were years old, in a box, in my closet).

When I go to court for the federal stuff, show I ask to be placed in treatment? Do I have a chance of getting in and would it reduce my sentence?

Dox, I don't know if it will reduce your sentence or not but you can ask to go to a treatment facility. I would ask your attorney to ask them on your behalf some judges will allow that. Keep us posted!!!

Also, be sure to have your attorney mention they were old and that you've been in recovery all this time. It will make a difference with the judge that you've been clean. It will make it even better if you've been in a 12-step program to help you learn to deal with life without drugs. It surely can't hurt to ask for treatment, either.
