Does anyone know exactly what a Probation Revocation Arraignment hearing entails?

Sounds to that they want to revoke (take away)his/her probation...........not good.

It is his opportunity to enter a plea to the charge of violating probation. It is really just an "administrative" hearing, because the Judge (not a jury) will decide if he's actually violated or not. Any arraignment is an opportunity to enter a plea.

Long Hauls got it. Its a hearing to determine whether there was a violation of probation worthy of having probation revoked, wich if there is, and the judge revokes it, probation ends, and (in NM anyway) you spend what was left of the time in jail. If the judge denies it, back to probation you go.

Thanks! Time will tell. It's his first offense, 1 count theft means of transportation in Arizona. He violated probation and was a failure to appear in court. They picked him up in Los Angeles and extradited him back to Phoenix where he sits in the 4th ave jail. Hearing is on the 30th.
He's already served a month here in Los Angeles. His former attorney said depending upon the Judge more than likely he will be given the option of probation again with some jail time. Either that or 3 to 8 years in prison. Don't know the real penalties for first time violation of parole.

I am moving this to the Probation and Parole forum - where I feel you will receive better responses to your questions.
