View Full Version : Would like information about Florence Arizona
Summerstorm 04-18-2007, 03:11 AM Hi everyone,
I would like to know if you can tell me a little bit about Florence Arizona. My boyfriend is getting transfered there tomorrow morning from Washington state. I was wondering if there is more than one prison in Florence. I know they are going to the CCA one and I was kinda curious, so I can get things in order for when I go to visit him. I am still in shock so any information would help a great deal. I just want to be able to see him and get his calls and everything...babbbbling again.. It would help me a great deal for anyone with information . Thank you
Autumn
mia_101 04-18-2007, 03:35 AM I only know about Florence West. It is a small unit for DUI offenders and parole violators. A friend stayed there and said it was VERY laid back. No cells, dorm style. Hardly any violence, lots of freedom of movement, and many things to do.
The following applies to all AZ prisons:
You'll want to get a visitor application approved as soon as possible - you need it for him to even call you.
Calls are collect only. You may not send anything except books/mags/stationary sent straight from the supplier.
Hope this helps!
Marc.PHX 04-18-2007, 04:30 AM If you havent checked it out already, visit the ADOC site. Here are some useful links...

Summerstorm 04-18-2007, 07:19 AM He's being transfered to the CCA prison in Florence, not the DOC. Thank you. I did just find out that they don't let us pay for the prepaid calls, we can only do the collect from our home phone (as Mia said) or he can pay it out of his commensary.
Dale'sforever 04-18-2007, 10:14 AM Hi Autumn, yeah there are actually several prisons in Florence. As far as AZDOC goes, there is the Florence complex and then the Eyman complex. Then you have CCA and another new private prison they just built not too long ago. As far as I know that's it, but it's a small town so that's alot of prisons! As far as the town, it's pretty small though it's grown. There are a few gas stations and a couple fast food restaurants. There is a super Walmart in Coolidge, which is about 10 minutes away, and they have several other stores and stuff there. Hope this helps. :) Lisa
Enjay 04-30-2007, 03:03 PM The hotel that is accross the street from the prisons is the Blue Mist hotel. The rooms are nice and not to expensive. They have a little fridge and a microwave. There is a McDonalds, Chinese Restaurant, and a greek restaurant within a couple blocks. A little further there is a couple Mexican food places and a Burger King. If you have any other questions, I'll try to answer.
MaggieMMay 04-30-2007, 09:15 PM Where's the Chinese place...and is it any good?
KARMA1234 04-30-2007, 09:45 PM The chinese restaurant is right next door to the Blue Mist. Word of wisdom, make a reservation at the Blue Mist ahead of time cause it gets full and it is the ONLY hotel in Florence. I highly recommend the Greek Restaurant which also has a very varied menu for sure!!American, Italian food there as well and it is all excellent!! The chinese place is good as well and the portions are huge. They also carry a good chicken fried steak. Both Mexican restaurants I have been to were also good!! The rooms at the Blue Mist are very clean and worth the $50.00 a night. If you go online and log onto the Blue Mist you can print a 10% off coupon...
If I can give you anymore info feel free to PM me anytime...
Mauigirl 05-20-2007, 07:51 PM I have a friend on DR who I am visiting. I am in California and will fly to Phoenix then go to Florence... any info will help me. Thanks.
mia_101 05-20-2007, 07:57 PM Stay at the oldest hotel in Phoenix - it is so cool. It's about $60/night and the neatest hotel I ever stayed in.
There are starts out in the front like in Hollywood, and rooms named for the famous actors/actresses that stayed there.

Mammasita 08-14-2007, 09:39 PM Is the same Inmate Phone service used in Florence that was used at the local jails? You put money on it and the inmate makes collect calls.
