10 inmates while in the hole were brutally beaten by prison guards at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley Massachusetts on June 26. At approximately 5pm 10-12 inmates while in the hole were subjected to correction officers banging on the bars and getting sprayed with the sprinklers because the inmates did not return their food trays, in protest of being denied toilet paper and guards spitting and facating in their food. It quickly turned into a full fledged attack by the guards armed with batons, shields, and boots known as the goon squad. the cries of the inmates was heard throughout the three story block. The beatings lasted for several hours and all night activity was canceled. Several inmates needed medical attention and was denied. The Massachusetts Correctional Legal Services were notified and went out to the facility and was denied access. No further details at this! time.
