trailrider731 04-15-2007, 10:00 AM Hay hay,
well here i am again on a learning curve, DOES anyone know how long before a 'resident' is allowed to call home after being transferred,,, Looks like my son, from what i can tell on the MDOC website has been transferred to MCCF from TCCf... ANOTHER hour to drive for visitation,, HOW do they decide who goes where?? does anyone know??
ANY info some one would like to give concerning rules on visitation, mail, phone calls etc would be greatly appreciated,
thanxxxxxxxxxxx:eek:
Mrs.Glamma 04-15-2007, 10:28 AM Hi,
I went through a few threads finding others asking the same questions but unfortunately no one posted answers for them, nor did they post the information when they did find it. Jonathan did post that it is a good facility but bvery strict.
This is all I have for now.

Please let us know what you do learn. Thanks.

trailrider731 04-15-2007, 10:38 AM hay thanx D,
Hopefully he will call today,,, or write this week, and I'll for sure be on the phone ASAP to get the info about visiting, Its the only way i learned anything about TCCF as the website had incorrect visitation days, and even their voicemail for TCCF was incorrect, when i pointed it out, they acted like they could care less. MIGHT be why they have a NEW WARDEN??? well, at least that's another rumor for TCCF...
I see MCCF is owned by a different company,,,
GOD BLESS,
Jonathan 04-15-2007, 08:46 PM MCCF is a Bible college primarilay - and I have heard they are a pretty good facility.
I think it will be 2-3 weeks before he can call.
I-Care 04-16-2007, 07:11 AM I have visited at MCCF and also know someone who visits every two weeks ( I get SO confused on how their 5th Sunday weekend deals work because they have Sat. and Sunday visits, the 5th Sat. gets confusing to me) and can find out about anything you need to know. "PM" me if I can help. MCCF does have a Bible College unit but that is just ONE of their units. From all that I have heard that is the best place to be. I correspond with several from MCCF, most of which are in the Bible College, I think it is called "Charlie" or "C" building.
A few things I know that are different from my visits at CMCF is all the visitors must arrive and leave at the same time. I think visits are 8 AM till 3 PM. The ones who get there early, if visitor are a lot that visit, may be asked to leave about 1 PM if you get there early. We used to get there about 9 AM and were never asked to leave early. We were EACH able to bring in 20 dollars plus 1 dollar that it costs to buy a "debit card" at the front of the visiting hall to spend in the machines there. You save that debit card and each time you go back you can add funds ( up to 20 dollars and you never loose what you have left on the card after your visit)to that card to be used while there. The love ones can not touch the machines or the debit card ( or that is how it used to be). You are assigned a certain table and the inmate is on one side of the table and family is on the other. AGAIN this is how it USED to be. I can check and make sure if that is still how it is. I have seen them allow the children to be on the side of the table with their parents. I will email my friend and check on some of the current rules ( watches and etc.).
I do not know WHO or WHAT decides where they go but I do think they can request to go to MCCF.
I know the food is smaller portions and NOT Momma's home cooking as I have been told but is fairly decent food. When you drive up to the facility ( it is out in NO WHERE LAND) of course they have a right to check your vehichle but mine was never searched like at CMCF. You do turn in your keys and have to fill out a form when you get there. So memorize your tag number. You will need it and of course your drivers license. You push a button and a gate opens and you go through 2 double gates I think entering the room to check in and buy your debit card. You also go through a scanner type machine and have to take off your shoes. Dress code applies about the same as all the others.
Phone calls may be by debit card now there. I will have to get info on that too for you. When I was visiting the phone calls were the same as at CMCF but now there is a debit card you can purchase and they can ONLY call that person on that card.
Hope this helps some.. Let me get an email off to the family that visits there and see what all I can find out that may be diferent for you..
Bless Ya!!
trailrider731 04-17-2007, 07:40 PM hay thanx, all info is GREATLY appreciated,,, I did get a phone call this evening from my son, so far so good, He has already mailed out a packet with some info, I'll probably have it by the end of the week. I still will have to get the phone card thing set up, as i don't know how they bill it before setting up the card. AT TCCF they used Evercom and since ATT and Bellsouth merged, I was left hanging,,, Bellsouth was doing the billing and quit in midstream, i'm still working out that scenario, i know i owe some calls and I talked to someone at Evercom and i guess they are billing me,,,, so now here i go having to learn something new, well they say that keeps the brain from melting don't they?????????
again, thanx for the info, keep it coming. I'll probably only be able to visit once a month as i'm almost 4 hours away per google maps. I was hoping he would be closer to home, so i could visit more. WHEN ARE GAS PRICES GOING DOWN!!!! I detest that!!
BUT THEN, if he is in a "safe" place that is what counts.
GOD BLESS, and
THE BEST IS YET TO COME
I-Care 04-18-2007, 06:34 AM So glad that you got a call. The phone calls and different prisons are a mess. I hope you can get all that worked out soon. The distance is far and once a month for a good visit is great!! I do not know when gas prices will go down but I sure hope soon. It is awful!! I am hoping that he is the custody level to have "one on one contact" visits and not limited to behind the glass and for just an hour or so for now. It DOES get better... Hang on! Bless Ya!!
JohnG77777 04-18-2007, 08:58 AM Most everything from I-Care is true regarding Marshall County... I would like to clarify 2 things... Months with the 5th Saturday have zero visits so that's how that has always worked in the past... the second is a "clarification" issue - when I-Care said all visitors must arrive and leave at the same time, it is all visitors for an individual inmate must arrive and leave at the same time... I am sure that was what was meant by that... Also, while vehicles are not searched in a fashion that seems common in other facilities, they DEFINITELY have a drug-sniffing dog that they bring out to make the rounds in the parking lot... just FYI... the staff is very professional with one exception... they often have a very incompetent (slow) staff working the check-in process - it can be painfully slow. And like I-Care pointed out, this place is in the middle of NOWHERE - it is very easy to get to after you have been there once... but make darn sure you know where you're going that first time... Peace, Love & Good Luck!
I-Care 04-18-2007, 10:54 AM Thanks John.. Yes what I said did need clarification. I just meant you do not have to wait in a line for them to search through your car like at CMCF.
Yes, it is all visitors for an individual inmate must arrive and leave at the same time.
I was fortunate enough to find a kind man who led me into the facility the first time and I got lost the second time. As you come out of there knowing which way to go because it all looks the same and I am easy to get confused!! SMILE!!
Thanks so much John for helping clarify my statements. The 5th Saturday thing ALWAYS confuses me because we only have to deal with 5th Sunday's at CMCF.
For Griever11, John, at first when getting there do you have the same "visitation". What I mean is it open or do you at first have only visits through a glass and for limited time until you reach a certain classification or do you have to be that classification to even be at MCCF? Do they only have A & B Custody there? I do not know.
THANKS AGAIN!!
trailrider731 04-18-2007, 04:31 PM ok, i'm still a bit confused on the 5th saturday thingy,, Are you saying there is no visitation the entire month or just on the 5th Saturday of that month?? like this month has 5 saturdays, so I'll probably not get in a visit this month, because i doubt i'll get things together by this weekend????? PLUS so glad you cleared up the leaving and arriving at the same time.. I WAS ALREADY to blow a gasket THINKING i have to get there by 8 with it being a four hour drive... WHOOOOEEEEEEEEEE DOGGIEE!! I'm an early bird, but that's was not going to be easy to do. THANX again for the info... feel free to post more!!! COULD i ask when the last time you visited? is this fairly recent???? I've googled a map, so hopefully my sister and i will have no problems. ROAD TRIP!!!!!
thanx again,
trailrider731 04-18-2007, 06:42 PM hay again and ooops, I looked at the calendar wrong, there are only 4 saturdays, ok, i'm confused to i guess, 5 sundays this month! haaaaaaaa, SO, maybe i will get things squared away in time to visit this month. I'm assuming his visitors list follows from facility to facility as does his canteen account????
thanx again, and Happy Blessed Trails,
Mrs.Glamma 04-18-2007, 07:57 PM Hi Trailrider,
Hope you do get to visit. Have a fun road trip! As I understand it none of the facilities have visits on the 5th Saturday or the 5th Sunday.
As a rule most facilities have their own visit list, so best to call to check so you are not disappointed. At least in the state operated facilities I hag to submit new app when he transferred from Parchman to SMCI.
Funds should follow him.
All my best
D
JohnG77777 04-19-2007, 02:44 PM I never ever saw visits through the glass and I would have seen them because the gathering or visiting room was set-up on one side for such visit types - I always assumed that was something they may have utilized in the past... All visits were as described initially above with inmate on one side and all family on other side of table - usually set up so that the inmates faced the front of the room.
trailrider731 04-19-2007, 05:42 PM Hay thanx ya'll for all the great info.
I did get some info in the mail today, I have to sit down and go over it. BUT do you get to hUg your only "child???" I saw no mention of that for now. I know the MDOC website says at the state facilities, hug when arrive, hug when leave?? I'll for sure call next week and make sure the approval list followed . I was thinking only C custody is glass, and MCCF is A and B only???
thanx again and GOD BLESS!

If they house "C" Custody inmates there, they would have non-contact (behind glass) and they will be at different days and times than general population so you would not see them used when visiting.
trailrider731 04-25-2007, 05:34 PM hay hay, just to let ya'll know, the info that i recieved was confusing with the 5th sat,5th sun thing, Apparently this month the 5th sun is the first sun... go figure, I called to get them to verify. I guess it tied in with March, because March had 5 Sats. HAAAA, i'll just call every time there are 5th weekends. OH, and visitation is from 9-3. Oh and for anyone else that might need to know, the money machine for "food"cards only takes ones and fives. Limit 20 i believe. plus a dollar for the card, NOW does the 1.00 come off the 20 or do you take in an extra dollar??? I don't want to end up with a dollar bill that i cant take past the lobby!!!! SILLY ME,,,, i should know this??? SORRY if i'm asking way to many questions.
happy blessed trails!! I'm getting antsy to get this first visit at a "new facility"
Mrs.Glamma 04-25-2007, 09:50 PM Super!! Enjoy your visit!! Thanks for the information and look forward to hearing about your visit.
All my best
I-Care 04-26-2007, 07:21 AM griever11.. Once you pay the dollar for the card it can be used every time you go. Yes you take in an extra dollar... You can have 21 dollars and 20 will be on the card. I did not know the machine only takes 1's and 5's, that is new and VERY IMPORTANT to know!! ALSO if some one goes with you they also can purchase a card and put 20 on it too. The vending machines used to be very full and a LOT of good stuff that the inmates and families enjoy. Especially when it is such a long visit ( 9-3 )THANKS we always got there at 9 but I was thinking it started at 8). Somhow they count the visits by the Saturday's is my understanding and this month only has 4 Saturday's so I guess that is how that works. ANY month with 5 Saturday's I BELIEVE will be no visits..
Have a good visit and BLESSINGS to your Love One!!
If given a choice..I always preferred to get a table in the FAR section ( a little room that is not the room where the vending machines are). It seems to be a little quieter. You sometimes can ask to go to that room ( it used to be open ( roof) and rainy days you could not go out there, but they screened that in and covered it. Other times they will seat you where they wish to seat you. You are assigned certain tables unlike at CMCF where I visit now.
OHHH one more thing.. You will need to know your car tag number for the form you fill out in the lobby. I am not sure if you need their MDOC number I think you need to know that as well. I know we have to know MDOC number at CMCF.
trailrider731 04-27-2007, 04:34 AM hay thanx,
ALL INFO greatly appreciated, the paperwork does state they do they sitting, but if not, i'll surely hunt a quiet spot!! ITS been over a year for a real hug, and I'm soooo ready!! GOOD to know info about the car tag, i think somewhere , maybe here i read that, now if i can just memorize it!!!! GLAD to hear there is some decent food in the machines, Cuz my son does say they are a bit stingy with the food portions. He intends to keep a stock of noodles on standby. LOVES them anyway, and has not been able to have them in a year. Plus he lost a good bit of weight in County, and then his wisdom teeth were giving him fits, TCCF did send him to have them removed. IF i had known he was only 5 minutes from where i worked when they did the wisome teeth, I and his trust dog would probably have been across the street waving like it was a parade or something.
GOD BLESS, the BEST is YET to COME!!!!
PS, MCCF did give my son info to send home, or maybe they just gave it to him, but anyway that's more than what TCCF did, i had asked THEM to fax info to me, but no go!!! ALTHOUGH the lady at TCCF was very helpful with his visitation list and took the info over the phone.
I-Care 04-27-2007, 08:18 AM I hope you soon get that HUGGGG!!!
Don't worry too much about the car tag. I sort of guessed on mine. I put the year and make properly but I may have gotten the numbers messed up on the tag on the form.
So he had all his teeth pulled and I am guessing they did not give him any false teeth?
Yes, if it is still the same they have lots of good things in the machines. All we get at CMCF is a pitiful bag of JUNK for 5 dollars. No other options for snacks at visit.
Bless you and I can feel your excitement through the messages.
trailrider731 04-30-2007, 01:46 PM hay hay Icare,
Visit went great, i was a bit nervous being the first time at MCCF. A couple other visitors helped me through the process, as its a bit confusing. Seems like everyone else was there before my sister and me even though we arrived about 9:30, so they went in first, ALL THE PIZZA was gone gone, which is what we were hoping to get for my son. BUt he totally enjoyed what we did get , and mostlty the visit. YES the hug was great, although much to his dismay, my tears couldn't be kept back for a coulple seconds. He gave my hair a yank or two and that seemed to help!!! WE stuffed him with Dr Peppers and sandwiches and talked and talked. OH what a visit it was,
That's too bad about CMCF and their junk food. I hope everything else is ok for you!
PS, someone said its in the middle of nowhere, and THEY are right!!! hay folks GOOGLE didn't hit it right on the head, but we found the place.
PS again, He only had his wisdom teeth removed, not all the others. I pray he stays healthy the next 12-15 years on the States Dime.
thanx again, I COULD go on, but i shan't FOR NOW!!!
I-Care 05-01-2007, 05:11 AM "griever"..This is GREAt to hear!! SO GLAD you had a good visit.
I thnk we ALL shed those tears the first "contact" visit. When we can hug and touch them.
BLESS YOU!!

They might as well expect the tears cuz no matter how hard ya try they come!!! Glad you had a good visit!! I cry hug and the give my son "THE LOOK" :D you know the one:D check them out from head to toe to make sure they're okay!! LOL!! Anyway glad all went well!!!
trailrider731 06-26-2007, 05:20 PM hay hay, I dunno if its something new or what, and maybe it was due to the riot/fight from a month back, but after our visit, My sister and I had to wait in the lobby till a search was conducted on my son before we could leave. It was our third visit and they havn't done that before. DID they forget the other times, or is this something new??
GOD BLESS,
Jonathan 06-26-2007, 06:17 PM How old is your son?
This is nothing new, just some extra precautions since the riots
I-Care 06-27-2007, 06:14 AM I visted there a few years ago and this was "procedure" then as well. We could not leave the visiting area until he was searched when I visited.
Mrs.Glamma 06-27-2007, 06:45 PM same procedure as SMCI
trailrider731 06-29-2007, 08:30 AM thanx, i guess we slipped through the cracks the first two visits. not intentional, but they appear to think you should KNOW everything , written down or not. There were some helpful people each time though. Maybe one day' i'll get to advice someone.. Its gonna be a long sad haul with my son (just turned twentytwo) and I miss him sooooooooooooo, hmmmm especially now its grasscutting weather, well if it ever rains enough to keep it alive!! Just kidding, I love our visits, and try to stay upbeat, GOTTA love that loud mower,,,, I can squall to my hearts content and NO ONE can hear, but God and Me!! HAPPY BLESSED TRAILS,,,,
Mrs.Glamma 06-29-2007, 06:10 PM Same thing happened to me first time, but I was PROMPTLY corrected next time. Hope you can visit soon and enjoy!!
lilred5 07-10-2008, 12:41 PM can anyone tell me the address to write a inmate at mccf if so i would very thankful
