I believe I will be going to a federal prison for sometime, I am not sure how I will handle it. I dont think I will have anyone to call or write, or anywhere to go when I get out.

I have been in deep depression for over 2years. I am currently on probation (for pocession of pot, 3 stems that were years old :/). Im looking at felony charges by the end of the year. I am facing up to 10years and a $500,000 fine. I have never hurt anyone physically /mentally/finacially. I just can't believe someone can face such a sentence for a non-violent, non-drug related crime.


Can anyone give me any advice on how to handle everything? Will I receive medical or dental or vision care in prison?

When I was in the county jail (20hours) I was not allowed my contacts and could not see anything. Will I be provided glasses.

I currently have bad dental problems that keep me from eating/drinking many things (unable to afford to fix this).

and I have a family history of lots of medical problems.

Well, although this might sound harsh, it's not meant to be at all------it's meant to see if I can help you to see this as something that may be a blessing in disguise. You may not get terrific medical, dental and vision care, but will you will get some. It may take awhile, but you'll probably get glasses and get your teeth fixed. You can also use the time to deal with your drug problem so that when you come out, your chances of staying free and clean will be much greater. There's always a better side to what seems to be the worst that could happen, in my experience, and lots of people have chosen to make prison an opportunity, not a liability. They're the ones who come out and make really good lives for themselves for a good future.

You may not be sentenced harshly, though, so try not to cross bridges before you get there.

Toi, My drug problem has been gone for years. I was charged for pot stems that were in a box, in my closet, after a search warrant was served. I had no i had them, they might of been there since highschool.
