View Full Version : Dress code at Holman
Bookworm1 04-11-2007, 01:25 AM I was wondering. I know that visitor's are not permitted to wear white, because that is the color the inmate's wear. However, I am wondering whether that applies only to SOLID white clothing? For example, would it be alright to wear a blue and white sweater? Or a white pair of sneakers? Thanks!

Bookworm1 04-11-2007, 01:42 AM I just wanted to add that if any of you ladies have any advice for a novice, I'd love to hear it! There are exactly 8 days left until I leave to go down south! Words can not even BEGIN to describe just how anxious and nervous and excited I am! I have butterflies! ALREADY! I'm so afraid I will make an ass out of myself. Get all tongue tied, or say something dumb, or worse freeze up and forget how to speak all together! I feel like I am going on a "blind" date! It is so nervewracking, and few people understand how I am feeling! I am on a rollercoaster ride, girls! I have so many mixed feelings, and I don't know what to expect. I just hope I don't get there, and lose my courage! Any tips, advice, words of wisdom??? I could use it! I'm like freakin out here! LOL Steven's dad tells me that he is as nervous as hell too, so at least I don't feel alone in this! ;) Aren't I awful? LOL What's that old saying? Misery loves company! :D

SnakeCharmer 04-11-2007, 07:41 AM hey lisa girl... leave them white tennis shoes at HOME!!! those are a BIG no no... wont let ya in with um. even if they aren't totaly white.. but have a LOT of white in with um, wont work either. so pack ya some more to take instead of those.. that way you don't have to worry about going back out to the car to change your shoes, and losen time seein Steven. as for the clothes to wear, i just replied to your email, ( but no solid white clothes, AND they say no "light colored clothes) if it has a "good bit of white" in it.. i'd not even chance it .. ( no streatch band pants whatsoever) anyhow... i bet you are nervous.. BIG trip comen up... and naw, once you start out it'll be good.. you'll prolly have so much fun you'll forget about being so nervous. when you get there.. don't sweat it.. just smile.. and KNOW that it is all worth it.. and only good can come of this! go in there with your head held high.. you'll do just fine. and if yall get so nervous that ya can't find the words to speak for a moment... then ( share a pizza) <smile> but i bet yall will be okay.. have the time of your life, those hours of actualy being together will fly by way too fast!!! make the most of it!
Best wishes,

Yes, got your message girl! Thanks! It would be great if we could do lunch or something. I will see if we can work something out! Just wanted to clarify something, because I'm a little confused??? What do you mean by no stretch waistbands? I mean, ALL of my pants have those? LOL I don't like wearing jeans, I don't like the way they feel! I know, I'm weird! LOL But they are dress pants, like the kind a professional woman would wear to the office. Not spandex, not tight or revealing. I think that should be alright?? What about the color pink? It isn't revealing or transparent or anything like that. Like I said, it would be appropriate to wear in a professional environment, so I don't see the problem? And I have a pair of black boots that will look nice. No white in them! Such dumb ass rules eh? ASSHOLES!
Ha ha. Thanks girl!

SnakeCharmer 04-11-2007, 04:10 PM Hey Lisa, i JUST tried to call you.. but got your "sexy answering machine" lol
I'm hate to tell ya hun.. but.. umm.. i have seen them turn away4 people in just the past few months that i have been on our lasts few visits for wearing "stretch waist band" sort of pants.. they made his mom go change her time before last, she was wearing some black"office type pants" but the lady made her change, she showed another lady ( on a different day) the paper that has their "rules" on it.. and it stated none could be wore. and she had to go change, she had said, well i have wore these before once, but it didn't work. and her pants were actualy cute( not sweat pants.. but just had the elastic waist) the officer said that they haev that rule in place because it would be easy for someone to "sneak in stuff" so NO elastic waist band type of pants At all.. girl.. i know you hate to hear that.. but, atleast it's before you got all the way down there and didnt have anything thing different to change into and missed your whole visit!!!! girl.. you better get to shoppen!!! Ugh i know you hate clothes shoppin.. but, girl this is gonna be a HAVE TO!
estranged_emma 04-11-2007, 05:43 PM Oh man, so you mean to say I can't go and see my mate in the nude? what the hell! I had my bday suit already and everything! that sucks! I don't even wanna go there now!
I mean, who wants to wear clothes on a visit?
Suthrndreamgirl 04-16-2007, 12:08 AM Hey Lisa....almost time! Yeah! I'm so excited for you! :D I'm not really sure what to tell you about the pants...if you're not really sure...call them...ask for specifics (but still bring a change). You could always wear a dress...can't be sleevless...has to be calf length...& worn with a slip. Every time I've went (& you know that's been many)... I've worn white tennis shoes (solid white, leather K-Swiss)...& they've never said anything about my shoes. They make you take your shoes off & look at them & everything, but never said a word. I think alot just depends on the mood of who's working. I have seen them make someone change for having a pullover on...& warned one guy about his shirt color being too light (it was beige). I had to change my shirt once. The CO at the gate said he thought it may have been just a little too low cut (it was just a regular top). I had worn it before...but I think he was just saving me time from possibly being sent back out once I had gotten in. He's always been real nice to us...so it wasn't a big deal. It just sucks having to change in the parking lot. I know you're going to look fabulous no matter what you wear!
CS loves JW 04-16-2007, 01:39 PM HAHAHA Emma!
Girl, don't you know that the only way my visit could have been any better is if it had been a "clothing optional" one! Goodness knows the sexual tension in that room was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
I didn't have any problem with clothing. Just to be on the safe side, I wore one of those 3/4 sleeve shirts and a pair of jeans and some clogs. No one there looked really "fancy" or anything... it was really relaxed -- I know you WANT to go in there looking hot for your man, but one thing that was painfully obvious is that your man will probably not care if you come in there wearing a potato sack -- he's just gonna be so happy to see you that it won't matter. But, hey, I'm a girl and I know that we worry regardless. :-) Just bring a couple of "options" with you in your car. WOW -- you are gonna be down there in just over a week! I'm so excited for you! I'm such an idiot -- I am actually toying with the idea of driving ANOTHER 1400 miles round trip again this weekend to see him. I swear, he's like a DRUG!!!!
estranged_emma 04-17-2007, 03:22 AM LOL, yeah I bet there is some tension in that room! I myself know that when I go see my buddy i'll be thinking damn man if I only could bone you lol! A good drug girl!
