Hello everyone,

My friend is on Death Row in Texas (Polunsky). His medical condition is not life threatening, unlike his sentence... Nevertheless, he's suffering...

He has *severe* acid reflux and heartburn and sometimes has trouble breathing from the symptoms. It is making his already stressful life almost unbearable.

The only medication they hand out is Zantac, which hasn't worked once for him in 2 years, and they can buy Alamag (1 packet a week) from the commissary. An entire packet gets him through about 36 hours.

There are other tablets available out here that could possibly help him, but they aren't available in there. Is there anything he or we could do to force the unit to provide alternative meds?

I really hope someone out there has some TX specific advice.

Also, does anyone know the Statute of Limitation on medical malpractice in TX - when does it expire? (That's a whole other story...)

Thanks so much,
Sheena x
