In Australia the use of marijuana has been decriminilazed, you can own 2 plants or up to an ounce, I think, without any penalties. There were a few complaints from the moral majority, but the law passed without a hitch. I met a guy whos in with Craig and he's doing 12 years for a marijuana offence!

Marijuana is a drug that has many positive side-effects. Cancer patients become influenced and gain an appetite. Glaucoma patients display less pressure on their eyes and consequently complain less of pain. It is a mild sedative that can be used with high anxiety patients for a short lived effect during crisis. It has many other uses that I have not mentioned.
People smoke marijuana regardless of the law and the consequences. The government should decriminalize use and cultivation. The U.S.D.A. could inspect it, have it packaged safely like any other product sold for public consumption, and sold in "Liquor stores". A tax could be placed on the purchase and become a major contributor to our many needy debts. All would gain from its use reducing the overcrowding in our American prisons.
I can not think of an incident or accident that marijuana use alone caused. Some say, "It leads to the use of harder drugs." I disagree for experts have proven that an addict develops from within the individual not from a particular drug. Cocaine abuse is caused by the addictive agents within the chemical compound, but marijuana is a psychological addictor. For example, "I can not play pool without smoking a joint. I am more calm when I have a smoke. My children don't bother me as bad with their screaming when I am high." These are some of the psychological thoughts that some users have and say. the calming affect is one of the side-effect of its use. Which is not a bad thing in comparison to being tense, edgy, and violent. I certainly hope some day that our politicians will see that all drug use is not such a bad thing. ...................38 Special...................................:)

I think their biggest fear is that it would create more users.
I've seen that argument on polital reports. In reality, the ones who want to smoke now, have no problem getting it.
I did read a good article about a company growing pot in an underground laboratory for medicinal purposes. It was monitored by the govt so maybe we'll see it decriminalized soon.
Take care.......Jerry
