Here is list of Ministries that will send books to prisoners for free. These are not Bible Studies these are books. All of these ministries sent me books while I was in prison and I learned so much from reading them. ALL these ministries and the books they provide are highly recommended!

Joyce Meyers
PO Box 655
Fenton, MO 63026
Joyce Meyers Ministries will send you up to two books at a time. I recommend for men “Battlefield of the Mind” with the workbook. Also when they write her they need to ask for a list of free books available to prisoners. She has a HUGE selection for them.

Kenneth Copeland Ministries
14355 Morris Dido Rd
Newark, TX 76071
Kenneth Copeland Ministries will send you one book per letter and accept one letter per envelope. You can also request a calendar and Faith to Faith daily Devotional. He also had a monthly magazine for prisoners’ that is very nice. I believe it is called the “Victory” magazine. It also is free. Same as with Joyce, ask for a list of books that way they can pick and choose what they would like to read.

Saddleback Church (
1 Saddleback Parkway (
Lake Forest, CA
This is for Rick Warren book “Purpose Driven Life”. Many prisons give a class associated with this book. It is excellent and HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED! Make sure they specify that are requesting “Purpose Driven Life”.

Saddleback Church (
1 Saddleback Parkway (
Lake Forest, CA
Celebrate Recovery is Christian Recovery program based on the Beatitudes from Sermon on the Mount. You can write and ask for the workbooks and also ask for the Life Recovery Bible. I love this Bible and have read it cover to cover! It has commentaries on addiction and how the scripture that you are reading applies to the issues associated with it. The workbooks are very well done and POWERFUL!

Freedom in Truth Ministries
C/O Mike Keller
3920 Weaver Road
Palatka, FL 32177
Mike Keller’s book “Breaking the Bondage” is use extensively in Florida prisons and is available free to anyone who writes away for it. It is a very book and helped me A LOT! Many Texas State Jails give this class.

Revelations Ministries
PO Box 547
Hewitt, Texas 76643
Revelations Ministries supplies all types of Christian books, free of charge, to prisoner. I wrote and ask them for a Concordance and Dictionary to help me better understand my studies. They are very helpful and dedicated. A BIG RECOMMEND. It seems like anytime they sent me a book it was like God was talking to me….

Marilyn Hickey Ministries
PO Box 17340
Denver, CO
I wrote to them and told little of my story. They sent what ever they wanted and both books that they sent me where wonderful!

Human Kindness Foundation
PO Box 61619
Durham, NC 27715
Bo Lozoff has compiled a book of prisoners letters that were written to him. That one is called “We’re All Doin Time” and it is excellent. He also has a book of fiction short stories that are about various characters in prison called “Lineage and Other Stories” that is so good I could not put it down!

Focus on the Family
(street address not required)
Colorado Springs, CO 80995
Focus on the Family has a variety of wonderful books available to prisoner, including a beautiful Daily Devotional by Max Lucado. HIGHLY recommended!

Brhyne001,You are a Texas size woman, there is no bound to what you will look for to help, thank you for your kindness. It seems everytime I look for some answer or a question I have't yet answered that some how I get turned back to you. And one can get lost around this place so much happening makes my life seem small in comparison. I have one more question how can I help myself from being co-depend or am I? I think I must be if I am here alone waiting for a man who may hurt me. Don't get me wrong I rather fight like hell, He can get over this, He can stop drinking he won't be the first. But how can I help me help him? Crazy question but I thought you might have a direction for me. And the good news is he's on his way to SAFP. Not that this is good news just that if he's going better sooner then later five months since my baby comes home. I found out today, I called to find out about lock-down. The lady said she didn't know about that but he's schedule to go to west texas for SAFP next week! I don't know whether to cry or jump up and down, but at least now time will start and sitting around waiting to get to SAFP is coming to an end I pray or do I? If all goes well he will be out in nine months after the half way house. I want this over with and I pray for this is for the good of both my man and us. I want him home. this time I will say yes and make it official so when he come home we can start our lives again. I'm crazy in love or maybe just crazy...greetings to all you who wait, I pray the spirit of God and his son will touch your lives and bring you comfort...MJ

Hi Mojolie!
Sorry I have not kept up with my messages very well in the past few days! I have been busy, busy, busy! I am so glad to hear that your man is finally on his way to SAFP! Loving an addict is tricky business. Where does their sickness become our sickness....what are the I stupid to have hope? These are all questions we ask ourselves on a daily basis. Yes, he can stop drinking but desire is not enough. Even AA teaches that recovery begins with a spiritual awakening. You need to seek help for yourself first. You need to understand addiction and by understanding addiction and how it affects it's victims, you can better understand your guy and his seemingly insane behavior. Understand this, YOU cannot keep him sober, nor or you responsible for his behavior. You cannot MAKE him drink either, although he can find a way to blame you and use his drinking to control you. Addicts are a sick and crafty bunch!

I recommend that you attend groups that will help you to understand addiction, your behavior and his illness. Having a non-judgmental place to speak freely and meeting others with like problems is essential to healing for you and HIM. Addiction equals isolation so that is the first wound you must seek to heal. Find like minds and LEARN! GET THE AA BIG BOOK AND READ!!!!

Here is a link to find AA/NA/ALANON meetings in your area:

Are you Christian? Is your man Christian? If so, there some Christ based recovery programs that I can recommend for YOU and him.

I hope this information helps you. Keep in touch with me and let me know how things are progressing for you and your man....I also should let you know I am Certified Facilitator for Overcomer's, attend AA/NA, Celebrate Recovery and COOL Ministry meetings. I also work with Zeke from Less Than the Least Prison Ministries. I am a recovering addict, ex-offender and Christian. If you live in Houston let me know and I can hook you up with some additional resources and help.
Be Blessed and walk hard!
