I was just wondering whether anyone knew anything about attaining court records from a preliminary trial (their own of course). Is it a difficult process?

Actually, I just found out today how to do this. You just call the court and you must first find out the exact date of the hearing being requested. Then you speak to the court reporter and order the transcript, but it must be paid in advance. (Incase anyone wanted to know).
