My Brother Is In Chuckawalla Just Arrived From Reception Center in Delano HE WILL BE THERE FOR A WHILE AND A HALF. THIS IS SO NEW TO US. WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH. MISS HIM LOTS. JUST STARTING TO GET ALL INFO ON SENDING HIM PACKAGES, WHICH I BELIEVE IS ONCE EVERY THREE MONTHS. IT WAS SO AWESOME TO HEAR HIS VOICE WHEN HE FINALLY WAS ALLOWED TO CALL US AFTER SO MANY MONTHS OF WAITING, IT WAS GREAT FOR OUR PARENTS AND SIBLINGS. WE ARE SUPER UNITED AND WILL HOPE AND PRAY THAT MAIL WILL NOT BE THAT BAD COMPARED TO WHERE HE WAS AT. ABOUT THE STABBING, MAN THAT'S SCARY AND THAT THE GUARDS ARE THE ONES WHO RAMSACKED INMATES'S STUFF, AWEFUL. CAN YOU TELL ME IF THIS IS OFTEN OR JUST ONCE IN AWHILE THING. HOW CAN I KNOW WHEN THEY ARE IN LOCKDOWN? WE LIVE IN NEW JERSEY, IT WOULD BE A SHAME THAT WHEN MY PARENTS WHO DONT HAVE NO ONE IN CA GO TO VISIT HIM THAT THEY WOULD FIND THAT THEY CAN'T SEE HIM. I MEAN IT TAKES FOR OUR PARENTS TIME TO EMOTIONALLY BE READY FOR THIER VISIT, MONEY AND ONLY DAYS TO STAY AND VISIT HIM AT LEAST 2 TO 3 TIMES BEFORE GOING BACK HOME. ET14, welcome to the Chuckawalla forum. I am new here too. My loved one was just transfered in the end of March also. As far as I know all prisons read incoming and outgoing mail, sorry.

My man has been there since mid-December and the stabbing that happened (I think it was actually a couple of weeks back) was really the only thing that has happened like that (that I know of "knock on wood") since he's been there. My fiancee is on F yard, which is the low-level yard that is actually outside the main prison walls so I don't know if they just don't get affected as much or what. There has only been one weekend that I called to check visiting status and one yard was on glass visits only (no contact visits), other than that, I have always been able to get in. The one thing they have done a few times is shut off the phones so the guys can't call out. They have no idea how long they will be off for or why they are off. They just have to wait it out, just like us.

Packages... You can send one package every quarter, but that does not include special packages that include electronics, I think you can send more of those. I use californiaqp.com to send my packages and that seems to work well.

Mail... As far as mail, they read everything incoming and outgoing. My mail to hiim can take anywhere from 4 days to 2 or 3 weeks to reach him. His mail usually takes about 4 days to get to me, except for the occasional mail that gets lost and arrives 2 weeks later.

Other than that, the CO's at CVSP seem to be very cordial and helpful. If you are nice to them, they'll be nice to you. I always say "kill them with kindness". Those people probably get so much flack from others that it's probably refreshing to have kindness brought their way.
