Well, a tank of gas and 3 hours of driving later, we found that DVI went on lockdown last night. :(

They would not give specifics, but from talking to a couple of the staff there was apparently some kind of altercation...
one CO described it as "they was badboys" and said they would be on lockdown for "a good long while."

The guy at the desk said they would definitely be on lockdown the entire weekend, maybe a week, maybe longer. He pretty much indicated that visiting for next weekend was questionable at this point.
He also alluded to fighting as the cause.

Both said everyone is "safe" which I took to mean that there were no injuries.

Geeez, I should have just stayed on vacation. I came home early just to go see him!

I'm so sorry you didn't get your visit! It must have been such a huge disappointment. I'm so sorry. Try to relax and pamper yourself for the rest of your vacation anyway. Hugs!

Thanks, toi, yep it was a bummer, but I always figure that everything happens for a reason...Im just going to try to enjoy what's left of my vacation.

I'm sure it is a bigger bummer for him, poor guy.

And it certainly was for his sweet wife who did all that traveling (6 hours in the car in 100 degree heat) while 7-1/2 months pregnant and very uncomfortable and dealing with their one year old baby who was cranky the whole time, too. All that and then she didn't even get to see him.... now THAT'S a bummer!

At least as we get older, we learn to roll with the punches easier, huh? Or, at least I like to think so! LOL

Thanks for the good thoughts! :)

Oh, now I feel so bad for them both! How sad! Yes, we do roll with the punches better as we get older but I know your son and his wife had to find that a great big low point.
