View Full Version : New to Bibb, what can I send him, how to?
LuckyLady711 03-29-2007, 07:08 PM Hey everyone!
I am new to this and not sure how it works. How do you send money and what all can they have? Does anyone know the visitation schedule and rules? Thanks so much!!

okiebaby34 03-29-2007, 11:41 PM Hello, you may send him money - US Postal money order - make sure to put his AIS # on it... you may send 10 stamped envelopes and 20 sheets of paper at a time, or a book of stamps - just write his name & AIS on it.
You can send pictures - no poloriods and nothing "nasty" or reveiling, no hand gestures or people waving, no beer or contraband in the background. Friend of mine was at a BBQ and there was drinking there and she sent her hubbie a pic of the family - it was denied because of a beer can on the table in the background.
As far as visitation - he will get either Saturday or Sunday - believe the times are from 8:30 to 1. There are a whole mess of DO's and DO NOT's... no white clothing - nothing can be brought in except for keys, ID and money for vending machines - which you will put on a debit like card - if you look on the AL DOC website - it has a whole section on visitation.
Hope this helps!!
BT'S LIL SIS 04-02-2007, 12:35 PM Hello Luckylady and welcome, My bro.has been in Bibb for 3 months,he was in dorm a,but was just transferred to dorm c. Anyway, here are their list of rules, as i know them, first of all
To send money,he has to fill out a sheet, which tells who he will be receiving money from, and that sender has to be approved,if you are not an approved sender, you cannot send money at all, he probably knows about this procedure by now,he needs your Dob/SS#,and you ,or whoever can be added to his list, then you can only send money orders, when you fill in the pay to section, put his name-AIS#/on the same line.Make sure that it is ledgible,on 2nd line, put Bibb co.forr.Fac./then Brent,Al.
on the sender side, write your name and valid address on and mail it,be sure to include his Dorm #,and his bed # on the letter,or whatever you have sent.Their cutoff day for $ on books if Fri.
Visitation is on Saturday from 8-2, and you can buy a food card, for drinks, snacks, etc.while visiting, the visit is in an open space room, with no glass or bars, you need to dress appropriately, crops, sandals, okay, but no short, shorts,or minis, nothing revealing, and of course nothing white.(as stated by okiebaby)
you can send unlimited mag.newspaper.subscriptions,2 paperback books a month, any matereial copied off of the internet, the books have to be mailed by a bookstore,i found a little used bookstore, and got books for 1 to 3$ tops, then $5,total,for shipping 1stclass,very inexpensive,,i'll bet if you check around, you could find a used store.Books really help them to pass time, and they love it,when they finish reading them, they can swap it out with another inmate, and always have reading material,my bro.had 3 or 4 fav.authors and i send him, books that he hasn't read,by those authors,
Also there is a care package coming up this month, where you might be able to send him one, they receive 4 a yr.2 for food, and 2 for hygiene.(shampoo, toothpaste, soap, toothbrush, lotion ,deodrant, ect.)
If you need more info on care packages, they are on the packages forum.
also as okiebaby stated, you can mail stamps, paper, envelopes,
Oh,just another note, also he must get his visitation list approved, and phone list, which he will need SS#,and DOB for the visitors, also,he can only list,1 female and 1 male friend, other than that it has to be a relative,i think the maximum visitors on the list is 8 people.the first couple of weeks or so,he is not elgible for visitors anyway.
I hope,i didn't leave anything out,if so,someone will come along, and fill in any gaps, but if you need any more help,pm me,and i will try to answer any questions,if you still have any.
I used to live in H'ville, and am a little familiar with Ardmore. All the Best
okiebaby34 04-02-2007, 05:25 PM Hey BT...thanks for that list, too, cause there are lots of things on there that I didn't know...thanks again.
proudmom 05-24-2007, 09:46 AM hi sweetie, my son has been at bibb for around 18 months. most of what you've been told is correct except visitaion is 8:00 to 1:00. and they get only one food package a year,at christmas. this has to be ordered from a commissary company and has a $100 limit on it.also ,my son says that it is way over priced and awaste of money so it might be better to just send him the money to go on his store account.they get a list of items that can be sent in their personal package a few weeks before they can be mailed and you will need this time to gather the things up because every thing has to be white, with no writing nor logos. also there is a weight limit of about 20 lbs. i think, though mine was a little over last time and they let it slide. his ais# has to go on ALL corespondence.my son even asked me to put it on his stamps now because it seems they were coming up missing from their mail.oh yes,and though it wasn't stated on their list, they tried to give him a problem about his toothbrushes claiming that they must be CLEAR. ok,if i can help in any way please feel free to ask. lol
Briansgirl25yrs 02-29-2008, 01:32 PM hey just thought I would add a few things, I have been visiting a little over a year, and the visits are 8am -1pm and it depends on his last name and what it starts with, they have visit days on Saturday and Sunday, I went on Saturday last year'07' and at the first of '08' it has now changed to Sundays, I guess it does that every year, (I hope I dont find out next year) and they run a check on everyone the inmate turns in for a visit and only the ones approved can send money also, but he can turn in a phone list and that isnt the same as the visit list, and he can only change it every 4 months (add to or remove numbers) and Proudmom you are right about the packages, it is only 1 food package a year at Christmas time, and it is very expensive..that is all i can think of right now....NEXT please..
