View Full Version : need info on care packages for hygiene
BT'S LIL SIS 03-23-2007, 07:25 PM :hmm: I found out that the care package for hygiene products will be coming up soon, my question is, this is our first package to send, is there a list as to what and how much is allowed, and what type of items are and are not allowed, also does anyone know if they would be able to receive nasal spray,( his nose is broken) it helps him breathe, he had one at county from Dr. and things like advil, tylenol, muscle rubs, hand sanitizer, nail clippers, tweezers, mouthwash, some of these i am just not sure about, but if anyone can assist me, or tell me where to find the list, i would be ever so grateful..................oh and the quantities of each, or how all that works, and approximate shipping cost, for a large box. TIA!
Morrigan68 03-23-2007, 09:36 PM I'm going to move this to the Alabama forum. You will probably find more help there.
ms.shorty619 03-24-2007, 02:27 AM hay bts lil sis, well when i sent my man a care package he sent me a form and wrote all the he needed, yes there is a limit that can be ordered and themamount it weights to.i cant say that its like that at all the prisons but thats how its here in cali.you can send them one a month,so they will have their cellie or someone elese to be sent one and they get some thing out of it.like one time i sent 3 out to him ,but two in another names, they each got a pair of shoes, didnt bother me .the one sent to him was the most expensive like allmost $400.that was all of his cosmetice and food ,shoes, clothing and anything else that he wanted ,tv ect.. so i hope that helps you out a lil . k
good luck with your package and god bless
BT'S LIL SIS 03-24-2007, 09:21 AM HEY MRSHORTY619, Thanks for info.,yes you did help, unfortunately, here in Alabama, we can only send 3 or 4 a year, and each box has to be just one thing, like food, however i quess that means he will get the list of the approved items, then he will write out what he wants, etc. That is a good idea, what you did,in order to get him more stuff, it must be really different in Cali, I can't imagine them gettting a care package every month, they would love that here, but at least i am thankful, that we can send one at all. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE AND NOT GRUMBLE (too much) ABOUT WHAT YOU DON'T.
Blueyez94 03-26-2007, 09:44 AM The list will be coming out soon. But for the package this is usually what they can have:
4 bars of soap
4 deodarants (has to be the clear gel kind)
2 shampoo's
6 white t-shits
6 pair of white boxers
6 pair of white socks
2 toothbrushes
2 tubes of toothpaste
2 white wash clothes
1 white bath towel
2 bottles of lotion
That is generally what is in a hygine package which should be coming up in hte next month...
SnakeCharmer 04-02-2007, 04:30 PM i have a question, does anyone know if the bottles of shampoo, and lotion have to be SEE THUR?
thanks for any help
and i wonder if the SIZE matters./.....
1Heart1Way 04-02-2007, 05:54 PM Last word I got was that every container except toothpaste and deodorant had to be see-through. As far as size, well, I don't know, but I would imagine there would be some sort of limit. We all know that EVERYONE, if they are being honest, cares about size. hahaha! I can't believe I just went there. :-P But, seriously, that's all I know so far.
Blueyez94 04-03-2007, 09:07 AM yes it has to be see thru and there are weight limits. the total package can't wegih more than 20lbs...
SnakeCharmer 04-03-2007, 09:22 AM i figured it would have to be see thur<shrug> thanks for the info!!!
there is a certain type of shampoo i'd love to get him.. and also lotion.. but i know it doesnt come in see thru bottles.. guess i can make it happen though.
and Girlllllllllllllllllllllll you all about the bigger the better! lol LOL
cember 04-04-2007, 06:28 AM Yes, honestly I usually buy the 97 cent Suave shampoo since their bottles are clear then dump out the contents and put good shampoo in there (he needs Head & SHoulders). I have been doing this for years and as long as it is clear bottles I don't think they care.
