I currently live in New York and work for an organization as an Employment Specialist. I teach a Job Readiness course to women at Rikers Island as well as to those on the outside who are formerly incarcerated, on parole or probation, or otherwise involved in the court system. This course is based on Moral Reconation Therapy which provides a range of employment readiness workshops and cognitive behavioral exercises that promote effective interview skills and job retention. I seek to empower job-seekers that have criminal records to obtain and retain gainful employemnt and to become informed citizens and community leaders. While the program is young, we are seeing a high rate of success. Of course, our retention numbers down the road will be the real test of success.

In the next year or two, I am looking into moving to Arkansas and am wondering if someone could put me in touch with some ex-offender programs there. I will be looking to continue the work I do and feel that I have a lot to offer as I am an ex-offender myself.

If anyone has any information, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks!

Susan

Appaulds to you from me for what you do!!!There are so many people who end up back in prison because NO one gives them a chance for a job once they do get out and it becomes to much so they end up messing up their lives again and go back......I hope you find a place here in Arkansas to do what you are hoping to do!!!! It would be a great Blessing for many men and women here in our state. Be Blessed Kitty
