Can someone please tell me what can you send someone who is in FCI Morganstown? Are they allowed packages? Can you send them stamps in the mail? My brother has just been there now for 1 week and I have so many questions I am really worried about him. He is to be there for 3 l/2 years. He is really a quite sensitive guy who made a mistake. What is it like there? Are the people pretty decent? Would appreciate if someone would answer some of my questions I am so worried about him. Thanks :)

My husband is in Morgantown and he has about 21 more days there before he is to be released to a HWH. You can't send your brother anything except for items that have to be BOP approved. You can get him a subscription to newspapers or magazines and I think you can send him paperback books. All of these things need to be BOP approved as I said. You can send him some money so that he can buy stamps at the commissary. My husband has been there since June 2006 and he said it's not bad. He said as long as you do what you're told and mind your own business you'll do just fine. There are so many things that your brother can do there to pass the time away. There is the rec room, weight pit and leagues for different sports to play. There are also classes he may take and he will probably get a job working there. I went to visit my husband twice since he has been there and I found it to be very clean and everyone in the visiting room was extremely friendly even the CO's.There is other information on Morgantown that you will find to be very helpful. I know I was completely informed about the visits and what to expect. If you need to know anymore info just ask someone is also here to help you. I know I learned more from this site than anyother. We are all here for the same reason to help one another. Stay strong and before you know it your brother will be coming home.

You can send photos, and they are allowed magazine and newspaper subscriptions but they have to be mailed directly there. They can have paperback books mailed to but have to come from the publisher. You can mail them money orders too. The address to mail money orders is different than the address for letters. If you need the address let me knw. They can spend $300 monthly at the prison store. If they want to watch T.V they have to buy a radio to hear the sound. $45 I think. They have to buy tennis shoes and boots deod. toothpaste a lock for their locker etc. My brothers first purchases for stuff he had to have including the radio was like $145. Since you are his sister you can visit the first visitation date ince he gets there. MOm dad siblings wife and children don't have to wait on the visitation forms. They are allowed 6 visits per month. If other people go with you make sure when you get there and turn in your papers you all turn them in at the same time or they will count it as more than one visit. They didn't tell us this and was going to count our first visit as 3 because our oaoers weren't turned in together but the guard was nice since he was a new inmate and counted it as one. He can only use the phine 300 minutes per month. They have email now too.

I really appreciate the info that you had given me. Yes I would like the address to send a money order to my brother. How do you find out their email addresss and do they have to pay for to use the email also.

The address for money orders is
Federal Bureau of Prisons
(your brothers full name)
his register number
P.O. Box 474701
Des Moines, Iowa
50947-0001
If you do not have his register number go to bop.gov (www) and at the top click on inmate locater. Put in his info and it will pull his location age race release date and register number up. This number is important so try and remember it. To mail him a letter the address is
(inmatename and register number)
FCI Morgantown
Federal Correction Institution
P.O. Box 1000
Morgantown, WV 26507
Do not mail a letter with your money order. They go to different addresses!! You can also get him money with a debit card at westernunion.com (www) select quick collect or 1-800-634-3442 option 2. The money will post his account within 2-4 hours. The bop webpage has a lot of info on it and they have an email address on there for questions. They actually respond pretty quick too, Same day when I emailed them. The phone number to the prison is 304-296-4416. Anything else you need to know don't hesitate to ask. I know it is scary because you don't have any information. It's almost like you don't know if you are coming or going.

They have to pay for email access. My brother has only been in 1 week so I don't have any of that info though. I think his orientation was today. That's when theyget all the needed info.Did he have money when he went in? If not he will not be able to call until he gets some. They don't offer collect calls. They buy 300 minutes fromthe prison for like $60.00 and that is all they are allowed each month.
