Does anyone here have experience with the mail at CSP Solano? My man has been calling almost daily asking about things I said I sent that he hasn't gotten. He's even asked the guards and they just tell him they don't know. It took almost a month for him to get his Valentine's Day card. So far I've sent a manilla envelope with a long letter and pictures of our newborn baby girl (about a month ago now) and a regular letter (week ago) and he hasn't gotten either one. I'm about to send out another and I'm really frustrated thinking he won't even get it.

Any advice or words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. I'm just so frustrated with this. I think my man is beginning to believe I'm lying about the letters!

They had the mail thing all worked out for a while there...my friend was getting his mail within a week of my sending it! It was short-lived, though. In the 5 years he's been at this facility, the norm is for mail to take, on average, 3 weeks. He did say that if I sent letters in a "greeting card" size envelope it would get to him faster because they don't fit in the machine they use to open the letters. For whatever reason, hand-opened mail gets through faster! So that's how I send his mail now. It sounds like you sent abnormal-sized envelopes too, so I'm not sure what to tell you.

Sometimes, if they feel there are too many pictures, I've heard they don't deliver them, but that's not somethign I've experienced. I make sure to always put his name & CDC# on the back of all pictures too, in case that makes a difference.

On manila envelopes I make sure I remove the clasp, just in case.

I'm sorry he hasn't received anything! That's such a bummer. Has he moved around while in there? Like, yards, buildings, etc? That might make a difference. Just keep writing...eventually, he'll start getting that precious mail!

I write my fiance, we are in florida, but i get his mail in about 2 days, he gets mine usually in 3 days... sometimes i get his mail 1 day apart. its weird, but sometimes I am worried that the guards go through his mail and actually take things, when they are suppose to only check for drugs and stuff like that. I am sure everything will work out!!! Keep being positive!!! everything will work out in the end!!!

It seems the mail is taking about 10 to reach my husband. Cards are a bit faster.

It only takes about a week. The large manilla envelopes with paper and stamped envelopes I send take 3 days. It takes 1-2 days for me to get his letters.

Hi! I have also noticed something funny about the mail to Solano. I sent a book(yeah! now I know not to send books!) anyway, they teased my sons dad for about a month that he might get it if it is approved, then told him they were going to throw it away, THEN they finally gave him some insane book by the same name, but the content was very creepy and violent! It scared him that I would send him such a thing. And I didn't! I sent him photo copies of the book I had mailed and he agreed that they were in no way the same book. Wierd! Other mail was also very S..L..O..W! for the first couple months. Now it is better, hang in there.

I've experienced the mail system at solano to be slow at some points and fast at others. I sent him about 4 Valentine Cards and he got only three of them, right before the 14th, anyways he just receive the other one last week, so I guess its hit and miss with them.

My Sweetie gets his mail right away. I've sent him postcards and he gets them the next day that.

My husband has been at solano for quite a long time... i get his letters in two to three days and my letters to him take about 5-7 days. Most times that is the way things go and then every now and then it takes longer.... if there is a holiday it will take an extra day. Always make sure the address is filled out correctly... they will send your mail back if you dont have everything on there.
Good luck
