Yeah, I'll be there the first weekend. I am so excited to be able to visit that much!! We're going to visit this weekend and it's been a month since I've seen him. For some reason I think I'm more exicted this time than ever before (except maybe our first visit). It could be because I get to see him alone on Sunday for the first time in over six months YEAH!!!!

HI! I thought that we sent all money to Oakdale? Sheesh, I'm getting so old.
When they are in Oakdale, I can pad the phone account as they don't take as much out there? Am I right there? But when they move, like to Clarinda, you start sending everything to the new prison? I'm sorry, but thanks.

IGIT, let me clarify the money thing for you. No matter where an inmate is, the money you're putting on his phone account gets sent to Oakdale with the special phone account form. They don't take restitution out of phone money.

If you want to put money on his "normal" account so he can purchase things from the canteen, etc., you mail that money to his prison. They do take a percentage of that money for his restitution. He is allowed to move money from this general account to his phone account.

That was very clear and I thank you for that verification. Now I know my plan will work.

I'm trying to help a kid at Clarinda who doesn't know me but I feel has a chance to get his life in order when he leaves Clarinda. Can someone explain restitution to me? He has court cost to be paid of $800. I'm paying those now, but does he have to repay them for his time in prison, like rent? Yiiikeees! Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to help this young man out.

One more thing!! To send them money for their personal account, who do I make the check out to? I'm gonna screw this up I just know it :)

No, they don't have to pay anything for their time in prison. I don't know much about Iowa restitution, but I believe they just keep paying it after they get out.

I thought you sent all money to go on their account to Fort Dodge at the address the website says or is this going to something else?

Jamie, I think you were reading some of the old stuff. You are right that now all account money goes to Ft. Dodge and all phone money goes to Ft. Madison. We used to send money to the individual prisons, but that changed last summer.
