Does anyone know anything about Alderson FPC? My mom was sentenced and sent there about a month ago. Just trying to find out as much as I can. ... . I'm a newbie here.

I was an inmate there for 19 months and if I had to be incarcerated anywhere that was the best place to be under the circumstances. There are many oppurtunities to rehabilitate yourself. I was part of the drug program and upon my release I went to school to become a drug treatment counselor and now I am a counselor in the field of alcohol and substance abuse. If it were not for the staff at that facility helping me to see in myself what they saw in me I might not be where I am today. If you have any questions about other areas of Alderson I would be more than happy to help in any way I can.

My mom has been there over 2 months now and is finding her way around. She does not have a history of drugs or drinking, and so she will not have an opportunity to shorten her sentence. She was also disapporved for boot camp because as her case manager told her, she "was too structured".

Basically she will be there for 20mths and there are not too many options as far as things she can "complete" while she is there.
