msheart 09-15-2006, 06:06 PM  Hello, I've been looking for any kind of information about Claremont Community Correctional Facility and I cannot find it in this site, can someone lead me to some information about this facility. My bf was just transferred there three weeks ago. I want to go see him, but I don't know if I need an appointment to see him, clothes to wear, what to bring , etc. The mail is very slow, he still hasn't received any correspondence from me, he was transferred from Wasco. He has no money, so I had to send him some last week, it's already Friday and he hasn't written to say anything. I am sad, I want to see him. Any information will help me greatly. Thanks in advance!
Luvly143 03-07-2007, 02:04 PM Does anyone have a loved one there? My husband just got transferred there today....
cowboys_girl 06-11-2007, 07:39 PM Hey guys and gals, has anyone heard anything about Claremont (Coalinga). I went this past Saturday for visits, and they were cancelled. Long drive for nothing. And I havent recieved any mail. I cant accept collect calls, so without visits and letters, I know nothing. I figured if anyone knows, you folks here would. Thanks for the help.
Maggie12 06-11-2007, 08:02 PM you can also try the forum for lockdowns of california prisons. heres the link

you can also call CCC and they may give you some information. you can also try messaging luvly143....she has a loved one up there and knows a lot about Claremont correctional center. good luck!
Luvly143 06-12-2007, 10:24 AM I sent you a PM, but just in case, we knew there would be no visiting last weekend. Someone escaped last Wednesday and they will be on lockdown until someone from Sacramento comes and investigates. That should happen this week. But... My husband tells me that a guy on the other yard may have chicken pox. They took him to the hospital and if it is confirmed they will be on lockdown for 21 days. The mail is still going and the phones are on. My husband has called every day so far... I will post more when he calls tonight.
msheart 06-12-2007, 10:55 AM Sorry I didn't know that you were going, I was going to visit my bf, but he called me on time to let me know that they've been on lockdown for few days and that visits were cancelled for the weekend. I don't know about this following weekend, when he calls again I'll ask him. If you want to know just email me.
Luvly143 06-12-2007, 04:10 PM according to the lady I talked to this morning they will be on lockdown for 14 more days...
cowboys_girl 06-12-2007, 05:41 PM thanks guys. my brain must have not been working. i sat here worried, and didnt think to call out there. duh!!! the lady i talked to seemed a bit rude, just saying no visits this coming weekend either. :( you guys rock, thanks so much!!

My friend was just moved to Claremont this month and has finally been mainlined. Any info in regards to the place will be appreciated. Are they able to use the phone on a normal basis? or are they on a schedule to use the phone ?
Thanks again

Mission Statement
The Mission of Claremont Custody Center is to give tangible value to the citizens of the City of Coalinga by employing local labor, patronize local businesses and provide inmate labor to help in community work; fulfill all obligations and agreements to the California Department of Corrections; enhance the lives of employees by providing an ethical, professional, fair and rewarding work place; provide humane, orderly, secure and clean confinement quarters for state prisoners; control costs to taxpayers without decreasing service; develop and maintain favorable public relations.
The Director is responsible for developing and implementing goals that are in compliance with the goals of CDC. The goals established for this facility are:
Provide a well-defined process to coordinate the services of intake screening, program participation, pre-release planning and parole supervision in compliance with CDC policies.
Provide a safe, humane environment.
Provide adequate food, clothing and housing in a safe humane environment.
Provide a setting in which inmates can engage in productive work, training and educational programs, and other programs to enhance personal development.
Provide inmates with opportunities to participate in decision-making activities that affect their adjustment and development.
HISTORY
Claremont Custody Center (CCF Coalinga) is named after a one-room schoolhouse that used to be in the area that it resides on. Claremont Custody Center was built in 1990 as a return to custody center (R.T.C.) for women. Prior to opening it's doors the designation was changed to Community Correctional Facility. The first prisoners arrived in February of 1991. In 1992 the State of California decided to move the females to the women's prison in Chowchilla, CA. The facility then began housing state male inmates with less than 18 months left on their sentence.
What Is A CCF?
A CCF (Community Correctional Facility) is a prison that is either owned and operated by a private contractor or city/county government and contracted by the state to house state inmates. This is done as a means for the state to save money because a contractor can house inmates for less money than what it would cost the state to house the same inmates.
In 1987, the Governor of California signed into law Senate Bill 1591, designed to relieve overcrowding conditions in the state prisons. The law provided for the State Department of Corrections to negotiate long term contracts with local governments to build and operate minimum security facilities for the custody of parole violators. The City of Coalinga was the first of five California cities to participate in the State program.
Claremont Custody Center is owned and operated by the City of Coalinga, CA. We are contracted by the State of California to house state inmates. We operate following California Department of Corrections (http://www.cdc.state.ca.us/index.htm) guidelines and Pleasant Valley State Prison (http://www.cdc.state.ca.us/facility/instpvsp.htm) is our hub facility.
THE CENTER
The facility is built on approximately 10 acres of land 2 miles outside the City of Coalinga proper. The facility has 450 beds in two separate housing units with an administration building between the housing units. The housing units provide dormitory living with the two housing units divided into seven dormitories. "B" dorm is utilized for housing inmates awaiting classification and disciplinary inmates. Nine cells are available in B dorm and five cells are located in receiving and release for emergency temporary segregated housing of inmates.
The administration building contains the administrative offices, receiving and release, centralized kitchen with two dining rooms, laundry facilities, medical clinic, inmate library, visiting room and commissary. Receiving and release processes all incoming and outgoing inmates.
Inmate Assignment
Inmates, once classified, are assigned to either a work program or education. Inmates assigned to work povide the following services:
Cooks
Clerks
Culinary
Laborers
Barbers
Laundry Services
Porters
Maintenance
Recreation
Coordinators
Landscaping
Outside Crews
O.R.W.A. CREWS
The facility maintains four off-site work crews that perform a variety of work for the City of Coalinga and charitable organizations. These crews are made of inmates that have been cleared for off-reservation-work-assignments (O.R.W.A.).
The crews provide services that include:
City clean-up
Graffitti Removal
Landscaping
Sprinkler System Installation & Maintenance
Other projects at the City's request
EDUCATION
Educational opportunities are provided by Claremont Custody Center. The college offers classes in academics (GED, ESL and college credit and non-credit classes) and pre-release.
The GED (General Education Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs are full time assignments. These programs consist of approximately 95% computer assisted learning and 5% instructor assigned classes. Students learn reading, writing and math skills. Once monthly, students are provided with the opportunity to take the GED test.
College credit and non-credit classes are offered every nine weeks. Classes are alternately offered in computer software (database and word processing), Sociology, Psychology, Keyboarding and Health and Mental Hygiene.
Animal Adoption Program
The City of Coalinga and Claremont Custody Center entered into a joint venture to build a new state of the art animal shelter utilizing inmate labor. The animal shelter was built on Claremont Custody Center prison property and by utilizing inmate labor saved the City 1.1 million dollars in construction costs. In addition the animal shelter is maintained, cleaned and animal care provided by inmate labor which provides an ongoing cost savings to the City.
Fleet Vehicle Service Center
The City of Coalinga redirected the city Vehicle Fleet Service Center to the Claremont Custody Center which allowed the City to operate with one less City mechanic. The two remaining City mechanics supervise an 11 inmate crew as follows:
8 inmate mechanics
1 inmate clerk to facilitate paperwork
1 inmate tool room clerk to provide tool control
1 inmate porter
This program not only provides a cost savings to the City it also provides 11 productive inmate assignments to assist in the preparation of inmates towards their release to parole. In addition this program expands the amount of work that can be accomplished by the City Service Center such as vehicle restoration.
CDCR Staff
The State of California has assigned to Claremont Custody Center one CA Department of Corrections Captain, one Case Counselor II and three Case Counselor I's. The Captain monitors the contractor in order to insure contract compliance relating to the Penal Code, CDC's Department Operations Manual (DOM) and Title Fifteen of the California Administrative Code. He also supervises the Case Counselor's.
The Case Counselor's are assigned a caseload of inmates for which specific duties must be accomplished.
These areas of responsibility are accomplished by the following:
Public Relations
Training
Classification
Disciplinary

kissesprincess2 06-23-2009, 11:30 AM I hope this helps!
debramrick 07-04-2009, 11:19 AM Hope, that the weather is cool there for the rest of the summer. I think it is just about as bad as the rest, but the inmates are of lower levels. Most of the staff is nice. One lady, who is at the desk at the end of visiting, is very rude to visitors. I have had two different families tell me they wanted to report her when I was leaving in the parking lot. I advised against it. I always fear that something could happen to my husband. Maybe, they might make it harder on him. I just want him home. All of theses places stink. You will experience problems and just deal with it. It can be hard. They often times don't have a lot of correct information. So, if you ask questions, ask many people. Don't expect that any of the answers are correct.
drenabugg 07-06-2009, 01:21 AM My husband has be down for several years now...just new to this place...I am all for them following the rules but will not tolerate rudeness or disrespect. from any one there..there are rules and guidelines that will be followed...I know my rights and with my husband we will always stand up for them because in the 6yrs we've been dealing with cdcr we've learn if you don't stand for something you will fall for everything...

Very true! Rudeness and disrespect is not somethingto be tolerated! I have never tolerated it and will not begin to just because they think they are better then the inmates or anyone for that matter! I found that if you complain about a "G.O." things get done alot faster and it also gets taken care of! Especially if you talk to the CDCR Sergeant! My husband and I have never suffered any because I have complained!
JesSeeKah 10-31-2009, 12:01 AM I need as much info as possible, my boyfriend was just transferred to Claremont Custody Center. Their website offers nothing as far as useful information other than their address and phone #. I called and they seemed to not have any answers for me either...I've looked on prison talk but have found very little. Here's what I need to know:
-What are the rules for sending paper, pens, envelopes, stamps, pictures, etc. I need to know the limits and how often they can be sent.
-How do I go about setting up an account so that he can call me on my cell phone? I am confused because Global Tel Link says they do not set up for cell phones so do I need to use one of those services that sets up a local number to the facility he is at? Do I have to do that in addition to having a Global Tel Link account? Anyone who has any info please let me know what you recommend.
-How often does it take them to process (on average) the mail and money orders (I was able to find out that the only way to send money is with a money order not jpay)?
****Please if anyone has any info even if you think it may not be useful for me, I would like to know as much as possible so I can stay in touch with him and make the remainder of his time as comfortable and stress free as possible for him.
Thanks guys!!!
light at end 10-31-2009, 06:06 PM I'm not very familiar with the CCF's but I do know that inmates are not allowed to place a call to a cell phone. In order to get a call to your cell you will need to have a landline and use call forwarding to your cell. Also if you check out the >>>CCF,MCCF info sticky (http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=252783)it should help you some.
light at end 11-01-2009, 06:34 PM JesSeeKah check out this link>>>can't recieve calls from prison on a cell phone (http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=447834) it will give you more info on getting calls with out a landline. I've never had to deal with any of that so I wasn't familiar.

Ok, so I can tell you as far as mail...
*a book of stamps
*a pad of paper, no spiral, a legal pad
*20 envelopes
*10 pictures from wallet size to 4x6 (depending on your boyfriends connect with guards could possibly get up to a 8x10) I have mailed 12-15 pics and he has gottne them all. You could sends pics everyday if you wanted, just no nude or violent obviously.
Mail is super fast. The turn around is awesome. He has gotten my letters in his hands within 2 days of me mailing out, 4 at the most and I get his next day to 2 days. So mail is great. Yes, money order only for sending money.
Previously I set up a cell phone with Global Tele Link on a prepaid plan, so if they dont let you prepay to cell that must be new.
I am sure, or hope you have heard from him already, but things are different there. There is not as much race gunk, which is nice and safer for them. I mean they are all there because they screwed up some way or another and should just get along. Anyway, there is 2 bathrooms to a dorm, no cells. They are all out in the open. Hubby says it is better compared to Centinela where he was before.
Good luck. If you need any other info just ask and I can find out for you. I talk to him just about every day.
JesSeeKah 02-18-2010, 10:40 PM Just wanted to update about the phones at Claremont Custody Center....They use global tel link just like the county jails do so it's simple....we get to talk all the time and I didn't have to set up any ridiculous additional accounts.
drenabugg 03-02-2010, 04:49 PM Anyone know the release process????
JesSeeKah 03-02-2010, 05:02 PM What would you like to know? My boyfriend is being released next month and I pretty much know what the process is so please give me an idea of what you need to know, ok?
drenabugg 03-02-2010, 09:55 PM I just want the whole rundown...all i know is to be there at 6am...
GretchGirl 03-15-2010, 04:34 PM My fiance just got moved here last Wednesday. I am curious how long the visits are (he said they are fast at approving the visits), what the clothing attire must be, and any other information you would like to share. Thanks in advance.
JesSeeKah 03-15-2010, 06:02 PM Hey there, unfortunately I don't know how long the visits are because I'm on probation and they denied me....but they definitely are fast at getting a response back to you. If you can, ask him to ask the other guys how long their visits typically last and I'll ask my man next time I talk to him as well and get back to you....Take care!
GretchGirl 03-15-2010, 06:07 PM Their website is so vague it kills me. I called and asked them, "if there are only 24 spots for visits, then if I drive the 4 hours it takes to get there am I going to be turned around" and she said that they would cut someone elses visit short. How is that fair? I am wondering if I should just leave at 3 in the morning. So annoying they move them so far from home.
JesSeeKah 03-15-2010, 06:10 PM I know girlie, that totally sucks...I would leave early to be sure. Also, from my experience they just tell you "whatever" when you call so don't count on what they say as gospel. The best thing to do is have your man ask around. I think the visits go longer if there are less visitors and that's what they meant by cutting it short because they won't cut short the "actual" visiting time (if that makes any sense at all). Basically, it may cut short the possibility of someone having and extended visit....
GretchGirl 03-15-2010, 06:12 PM Oh I see, do you know if they are contact visits? It looks like a county jail so I wasnt sure. Thank you so much for your help.
JesSeeKah 03-15-2010, 06:12 PM Do you know yet how long he will be there? It seems to be a pretty kick back facility. Not a lot of drama and it's sorta like county jail. Also they seem to be able to use the phone a lot..
JesSeeKah 03-15-2010, 06:13 PM That's so funny, I was just commenting that it's like jail. Yes, they are contact visits.
GretchGirl 03-15-2010, 06:14 PM They didnt transfer his money with him into this facility either. I am not a happy person. I just put good money on his books that I could have used if I would have known they wouldnt give it to him.
JesSeeKah 03-15-2010, 06:16 PM Yeah, and sometimes they mess up when you send money orders, so be aware of that. They seem like a bunch of dipsh%@s running the place...
GretchGirl 03-15-2010, 06:16 PM My fiance has 64 more days. I have seen him once in the last 3 months and I am dying. Right when I got approved they moved him. I guess I should be happy I got to see him once. Its funny, but they make you redo your visiting forms. I waited 8 weeks to see him the first time. So frustrating. I hope they approve me before this weekend. I willl leave at 3 am if I have to!
JesSeeKah 03-15-2010, 06:17 PM You shouldn't have a problem...I know it's frustrating. I haven't seen my man since August....
GretchGirl 03-15-2010, 06:17 PM LOL, atleast its a safe facility I guess. Hes not a baby, but hes my baby and if anything happened to him..... How long has your man been there? I bet they are one hour visits.
GretchGirl 03-15-2010, 06:18 PM You must be so upset. I complain and then I hear somebodys story that worse and I feel bad. Things could be worse.
JesSeeKah 03-15-2010, 06:19 PM My mans been there since oct. and has been gone altogether since aug....lemme know if you have any more ?'s
JesSeeKah 03-15-2010, 06:20 PM Yes, it could always be worse. I've had a rough time through this ordeal. It's very depressing and rough. But, I'm totally better now and can't wait for the next month to fly by....
GretchGirl 03-15-2010, 06:21 PM 33 more days for you :)
GretchGirl 03-16-2010, 11:12 AM So the information I have found out so far is it takes approx. 2 weeks to get approved for visiting (since you have to redo the forms). They send the forms to Sacramento to get approved. They also said that it takes approx 2 weeks for them to go to committee to be classified (I have heard its lots shorter then this). The visits are 2 hours, but can be extended if there are seats avaiable. The dress code I have heard it laid back, but still no JEANS. I was told that the mail moves faster here then a regular prison, but it must be addressed to the right location (bed number etc.). I will find out soon how long mail takes. The phone number operates at all hours of the night, so you can call the prison anytime for answers. The people who process the visitation forms get there at 10pm. Hope this helps anyone else with questions. I will keep posting as I find out more.
Wow thanks for all the good information! My son has been sent there and as far as jails go, it seems like a good one to do time in.
GretchGirl 03-19-2010, 05:38 PM My fiance says he eats better in Claremont then he has in years (this means better then my cooking :)
