Hi guys. My friend was just transferred from Kilby last week to Easterling. I haven't heard from him, guess the lists haven't been approved yet. I work at a facility and from the things I have read here, it seems like it is the best place to be sent if you have to serve time. We do have lists for visits, funds and calls but the longest I have ever saw any inmate wait to use the phone is 3 days. Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you guys could let me know how long is usually takes for a visit and call from Easterling. Is it still a non-smoking camp? If so, it is the only one in the ADOC I have ever heard of. His EOS date is 9-08, but we are hoping for a WR closer to home. This is his second time in so I am familar with Ventress and the camp I work with, but as far as Easterling, I am lost. Any info would be appreciated and if I can help in anyway I will be glad to. Thanks so much!!!!!!

I would not say it is the best camp to have to serve time at....they are strict and very LOCKDOWN happy there.... As for the phone calls - I would think he should call pretty quickly. The letters should come as fast as he writes them.....
They have lots of rules there too......Yes, it is a smoke free facility.

Thanks guys. I got a call today and can visit 3-18. His list was approved 4 everyone but me because they don't have his divorce papers on file. I have to fax them in on Monday. I am also taking them with me that day just to make sure. I am really excited tho, even tho he says it is a really strict place, I am just ready to see him!!! Thanks again.

I responded to a good bit of this back in the "Easterling Connection" thread, before I saw this one. So, I'll just repeat a bit. Yes, it's true, they can be very strict down there. And, as termaltam...they are LOCKDOWN happy! I feel they are a bit too strict with the time they give the guys in lockdown vs. what they did to get there. But, that's just my personal opinion...maybe I'm a little jaded, right now:blah: ! My fiance has been there for a little over 6 months. He hates that it's a Non-smoking facility!! But, as far as fights & violence goes...I think we've both been pleasently surprised at the lack of it down there! As I said in the other post...GET THERE EARLY. I usually get there about 6:15/6:30a.m. & wait in line. That's about an hour and half before they'll let you in, but I'm usually one of the first in line. Just from being at another camp...you may be aware of Easterling's guidelines when it comes to clothes. You can't wear white. No v-neck or revealing tops. No flip-flops. No short shirts/skirts/shorts. My suggestion would be jeans, t-shirt & tennis shoes...ya can't go wrong with that! I got turned around twice on my first visit b/c I didn't know their rules. Luckily, I brought an extra shirt and pair of shoes with me...so it wasn't that bad! If you would like to know anything else...just let us know. Feel free to PM me, if you'd like!
