Does anyone here know anything about the medical care at DVI?
I just got a letter from my son, who is in reception there and has been there since Feb 8. I guess they are doing his work up or evaluation or whatever it is they do to decide where they will be sending him next. He told me that they had taken him to be checked out and they told him his blood pressure was 198 over 108. He's 32, and has been in county jail since May 3, 2006. He said the nurse or doctor, whatever, was telling him he could have a stroke. They put him on some sort of medication, 25 mg of Hydrochlorothiazide. He wrote "lady said I could have a stroke any day and wanted to know why I don't have any symptoms." Don't they call high blood pressure the silent killer?
I'm just wondering if anyone knows if he will get the care he obviously needs.
He still hasn't gotten any of my letters, even though I switched to post cards on Tuesday. He said he feels like he's going crazy in there but he got to go outside. This is from his letter "I had my physical and saw the dentist on Monday. And of course it took all day , 7 am to about 3pm. Stand in line and wait, stand in line and wait, but I finally got to go outside. They put you out in a sort of dog kennel while you wait. Only thing was, it was raining the whole time. But it was nice to get out of this little room."
I will feel so much better when I know my letters are starting to get to him, even if one of the post cards gets there it will be wonderful. And of course the stationery envelope, I wonder why that's taking so long. Nothing in there but paper, stamps, envelopes, and a clear pen. Black ink, maybe I should have sent blue. ha ha, who knows.
