Only 23 days to go now. Ignore my ticker, i think it's running on American time ( but i like it better, because its closer to the end. The others jump back to be beginning, but from a one year ticker to a 6 month ticker, and then one month...) This one starts at the beginning of his sentence and ends on his release date. It's a better picture of what I've been through.

Well that was a whole lot of rambling about nothing, wasn't it? Sorry.

Just realised that daylight saving ends on the day he comes home. That means one less hour in prison, and one more hour in bed that first night! Sounds good to me!

I did live with him, we were evicted when he was arrested and I moved back in with my parents. I have very religious parents who weren't too please with us living together before we were married in the first place, and he is desperately seeking their approval, so he wants us to do the right thing by them...(i'd much prefer to live there with him myself...).

And I'm painting, because it's a rental place that I'm getting cheap, which depserately needs work done. Painting is just the tip of the iceberg!!! The last tenants were pigs (it should be made law that tenants at least clean the toilet before they go).

I'm hoping to just get enough done that it's livable when hegets home- painting, carpets shampooed, kitchen cupboards and oven cleaned etc. And I''m running out of time! I even asked him to ask if they'd let him stay on an extra week or two so i'll have time to finish. Ha! He wasn't pleased with that idea.

So this is a new place for both of you, which he has never seen? OMG, I'd be going MENTAL! ... and bankrupt! :o

I kinda wished I could do the same, in a way. I wouldn't want to go through "the move", but the place I'm in now is full of bad memories and no good ones. We moved here after we knew he would be going to jail, so I could afford it by myself. And then the whole year (nearly) that he's been in.

I love the place, but I think we'll probably leave as soon as possible. Too much bad stuff happened here. Unless I can do some kind of Feng Shui cleaning Karma stuff.

By the way ... Jewish tradition is to bring in some FRESH BREAD, WINE, SALT and ... something else. Can't remember. The bread is so you'll never be hungry; the wine is so you'll always laugh, the salt is so you don't cry (enough salt in the house already) ...

And then some other tradtition my friend told me was to light candles in each window sill and each doorway, to get "the old spirits" out of the house and start fresh.

Just in case you have time between carpet shampooing and painting!

And he only has 10 more days left in the prison. They're cleaning up after the bushfires, and camping for the next 2 weeks not even within the walls!!! He's so excited!

I can't believe it's been 10 days since i started my countdown already! Time FLEW!!!

I started the actual painting of the house today, so far it's all been prep. And i started painting the ceilings, and ALL the previous paint pulled away and peeled off until the ceiling was BARE. Completely bare, as in, you could see bootprints where the builder stood on the plaster before he put it up! (house built in 1976...he's probably retired now.)

So I had to start all over again, with sealer/undercoat, and re-patch where the nails were etc, etc.

I had friends and family helping today, and we seriously thought we'd have the whole house painted by the end of the day... we're nowhere near finished! barely started even. It's a bit frustrating. Hoepfully by the end of the week, but I'm not making any definate plans anymore.

BUT, there's only 19 sleeps to go now, 18 days and a wake up (and a long drive...)

Hey that's the way, for sure! It'll give him something fun to do with you while he's re-adjusting, plus he'll feel good that he has contributed to his new home, rather than embarrassed/guilty that you've done all the work for him. I know we just want to spoil our men rotten, but I know that mine feels bad when I go too far with it - he wants to feel that he is a good provider or something I suppose...

Yeah, mines the same, but i told him to relax... that it was giving me something to focus on and it was making my time fly... that way he'll feel selfish for feeling bad and un-provider-ly :) And i can go on spoiling him rotten!

Ahhh, yes the strip searches. lots of them. just to be sure. Maybe i can dress up as the canteen lady...they flirt right in front of me- sometimes i think i'm just there so he has access to the visit centre when she's there!!! Or maybe now it's HIS turn to be the "screw" (oooh, that makes for a great "coming home" pun) and i can be HIS prisoner???

OMG, we had done of those "canteen ladies" at Ararat as well.I think she was the one in charge of running the Kiosk. Haaaaa...My revenge came on the day we got married.. She came in to drop off some shopping to the canteen, just as I came in to the visit centre, and my wedding party ( all 3 of them). The next weekend after the wedding she was really chatty to the both of us. Haaaaaaaa

I had nothing planned because he turned up a couple of days before I thought he was coming home. But We just had something really nice for tea. Other than that it was just spending time getting use to talking for more than 10 minutes. That is something we did find really hard. :) After a short while we ran out of things to say :)

3 days!!!The day after tomorrow is the day before he comes home!!! (Am I going too far??? hahaha). I'm trying to avoid butterflies by keeping really busy, and just not thinking about it. I don't think it will really sink in until friday... or when he's in the car with me on Sat.

Amanda, do you know what time he will be released? Is it early in the morning? I hope so. I wouldn't want to be hanging around waiting if I were in your shoes.
