Since I want to visit my husband in Louisiana, I had to have a background check. I just got my ok to visit and they also sent along with my approval visitation rules and one rules caught my eye and I havn't stopped laughing since. Now, I know it's not funny, but in a way it is. I can't actually believe they would put this in there.

Here is the rule:

* Inmates may have their wife or girlfriend on the visitation list. NOT both.

I'm sorry ladies, but if my husband were to put a "girlfriend" on the list and not me, his wife.... well he wouldn't have a wife any more to worry about to put on the list anymore!!:)

the funniest rule i got with the list of rules that came with my visitation application from florida was "visitors are not permitted to shout at inmates" i wrote and told my friend i was greatly disturbed i wouldn't be able to yell at him! :D

I might have to get a hold of the visitation rules for where EJ is at. I can add a little bit to that stupid rules stuff. When I saw EJ about a month ago, the tables they have set up for us to sit at. They actually had "V" for visitor & "I" for inmate on the 2 seats across from each other. I didn't sit in the spot marked "V" to see what they would say, when EJ came in the guard told him I had to sit in the spot marked "V"!

I remember visiting John at Rikers Island when a wife and girlfriend both showed up at the same time and both had brand new infants born within weeks of each other!! Talk about a cat fight!

That must have been interesting. I guess one can have an affair on the inside or outside.....

I think being faithful encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects. I feel that one can be emotional and spiritually unfaithful and I think that is just as bad--my opinion....

I am the ONLY person on my hubby's visiting list - so if any old flames / ex-wives show up, that's just too bad!!!

Well, with the rule of not being able to have your wife and girlfriend on the visiting list at the same time would definately put a stop (or at least make it difficult) for someone on the inside to have an affair.

Just curious though about something Molly mentioned about having an emotional or spiritual affair. What exactly would constitute an emotional/spiritual affair?


I mean, everyone has their own terms as to what "cheating" is. For example, the debate over whether "cybering" is cheating or not. Some think it is and others don't, just as long as there is no "physical contact". What would be considered an "emotional" affair and where would the line have to be drawn?

Just curious as to other's opinions.

I think that a person can emotionally & spiritually check out of a relationship without actually having a physical affair. I often think that happens first--the person stops connecting with their partner. Having other friendships with the opposite sex (or not depending on your orientation) is not an issue. I think that if one of the parters is reaching out to another individual--could be in person or online--they know whether or not they are crossing the line. It depends on what kind of relationship they are having. I have several male friends who I enjoy a great relationship with--yet I don't reach out to them in lieu of my husband. I guess for me--physical contact is the last step--I think "cheating" begins first on an emotional level.

I agree Molly. If my husband turned to another woman emotionally, in some ways I believe that would devestate me more than if he had a physical relationship her. However, the opposite is true for him. He would have a harder time with a physical affair than an emotional one.

All affairs begin in the mind, or so I believe, for both men and women.

I guess that is the difference between men and women. The men want the physical.. but the women want the emotional, the emotional part is more important than the physical and I don't think men really understand this.
