Hello all, This is my very first post. I've been reading for a few months now. I have been watching a specific NYS site since last Dec.(Dec.2006) and It seems like EVERYTHING that Spitzer does gets put out as a press release. So I think that any gossip could be put to rest by checking this site out. The Telephone call rate reduction story is listed for 1-8-2007. Although he is going to do studies, I have not seen anything that discusses that 85 to 65% cut in time served rumor that is running rampant. I also heard it from my brother And a friend , both in different facilities. Hope this is helpful to everyone. Gosh, how I hate the rumor mill! Best to stick to the Facts! Regards, his big sister

rates was 57.5% of what we were paying. Removal of that, will result in a reduction of 57.5 % in the telephone rates. Our information comes directly from the group that took this to court on the inmate's families' behalf. (NY Campaign for Telephone Justice) They live this issue every day. The lawsuit recently was upheld (allowed to procveed) by the Court of Appeals-the State tried to have it thrown out as not being timely. The Court of Appeals disagreed. The big upside if this suit is won-is the possibility for refinds to those inmate families drained by the Pataki Administration.
