Unfortunately you can't do an internet search to find out if someone is incarcerated in Canada. You could try placing a notice in PTO's Lost in the Canadian System (http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=646).
I hope you find your friend or hear from him- let us know if you have any luck.

Corrections Canada will not acknowledge if a person, is, or is not in custody. If you were to find that they were in custody, Corrections Canada will not disclose any information whats-so-ever about their location. In custody in Canada, all inmates are known by their Finger Print Services Number, aka FPS#. Anyone finger printed by Police, ie; Bank employee's, Gov't employee's, Police staff, etc, all have a FPS#. If he has ever been in custody in the past and mailed any letters to family or friends, the same FPS# stays with you for life.It may be possible with legal assistance, to find out his FPS#, or if you know a lawyer he used in the past? With an FPS#, you could mail the letter to any prison in Canada, and it will find him.Although you could go through a Private Investigator, it would be far less expensive to just mail a letter to all the Canadian Institutions.Final thought would be the comment above, myself being on federal parole, if you state the name and province you just may come across someone who has crossed paths with your friend.

thanks I appreciate the help......someone contacted his mom and she said He can't talk and she'll get a letter to him if we send one, so we are writing him a letter and hoping he replies. Still don't know if he's incarcerated or went to treatment or something (drinker), mom isn't saying
