It's so wonderful to have found you all. I hae posted on the general sight and spent many hours there already. My boyfriend/soon to be husband if all goes well, entered the County jail facility in Jonesboro in January and was on the "waiting list". I had to leave Court that day alone, one of the hardest things I've ever done. But I CANNOT complain to much, his sentence is 2 1/2 years of which I'm told he will serve about 6 months...but I'm still confused somewhat about all that. Anyway, since I first posted and explored on the general pages, I got a little calmed and comfortable with things as he was locked up, but at HOME. I went to collect his personal items today as he requested, just talked with him on the phone yesterday, walked up to the front desk today and they told me he was GONE! poof! It's been somewhat of a sureal day for me. As I said I'm new at this and am gathering as much information as POSSIBLE. I pretty much know nothing about what happens now nor how to get calls from him, visiting, mailing, how long he'll be in Pine Bluff (I did find out he was there) etc., etc. Thank you all for being here! And if there is anything I can do for anyone else...DON'T HESITATE

Hi Lori, welcome to PTO and the Arkansas forum. Routinely they will be in diagnostics a week or a little more. My son had some medical problems and he was there less then 2 weeks and this was last month. They can call from diagnostics but it takes a couple of days. He can also send letters from diagnostics and you to him if you know his ADC#. As for visiting, my son was there such a short time but as soon as he was moved his wife got to visit right away without waiting on application approval. I think this is for immediate family though. You may have to wait for approval but it didn't seem to take but a couple of weeks once the application for visits were sent in to his unit. I think he will start out as Class II so the visits will be every other saturday depending on his last name. Once he gets to Class I he will get visits every sunday. The visits are 4 hours long. OK this is how it is in Grimes where my son is anyway.
Good Luck hun and you are right, 6 months will fly by and you will have him home soon. :)

Hang in there and he will be home soon.Things are strange to say the least when they go in, he will eventually be sent to a unit, and most likey since his sentence is short,he will be at the same unit for his whole time....but you never know when things can change.
Like Unbroken said in a just a few days you can have phone contact and as soon as he gets your application filled out and sent in it will be a couple weeks or so before you can visit. You will have to have a plan thru MCI to receive calls, right now they are still the carrier, but if you look on here you will see there are a lot of changes happening in the phones right now, but for the good at least:)
We are all here to help answer your questions so as when you need to. Kitty
