View Full Version : Question DVI Tracy melissab83 02-20-2007, 10:35 PM Hello eveyone, I was just wondering if Y Dorm at DVI is part of reception? Aliwant24 02-21-2007, 01:07 AM I am not sure. My fiance is there, in Ad-Seg... and his is L. I am not sure how they have them set up there. Sorry, I could not help you more. bears baby 02-21-2007, 01:50 PM Not sure my husband is in g wing. does anyone no while they are on lock down does that mean they can not send out mail. edsbaby 02-28-2007, 11:31 AM Yes, Y dorm is reception. Yes, they can send and receive mail while on lockdown. MattsmominNY 03-22-2007, 03:16 PM Does anyone here know anything about Z yard at DVI Tracy. I think that's what they called it, my son's new housing number starts with DZ, than 9 or 10 zeros and then 3 digits. I've been waiting for a phone call. I set up an account with MCI (ouch!) and he did try to call yesterday but I was not home. I called the mainline records office and they told me he was mainlined to Tracy and gave me the new housing number. I'm not sure if that's the right number, they seem to not be all that efficient. But they did say something about Z yard. Anyone??? JMK 03-22-2007, 06:50 PM I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that Z is one of the two mainline gyms at DVI. They house several hundred guys in what used to be a gym. This is not ideal--no one likes to be a dorm/gym--but at least at DVI the mainline is really small (relative to all other prisons), which I think makes things better. Hopefully your son can move into a cell when room opens up. The best housing is called "L3", but it can take awhile to get there. L3 you have a key to your own cell, and the bathrooms are separate! Wish Matt luck.... and try not to get too worked up over stuff... I am nervous for you being a mom. :D MattsmominNY 03-23-2007, 08:02 AM He's tried to call twice now, first Sunday when the MCI account wasn't set up and then again Wednesday morning he tried 3 times in a row. Nothing since then. I was thinking because of the numbers that he was in like a gym or something. I will try to not worry, but of course you know that's not gonna happen. The doctor there was checking him every day a couple weeks ago for high blood pressure, so I will probably try calling health services to see what I can find out. It probably won't do his blood pressure any good to be put in the zoo. For some reason, I have been having a real problem sleeping, maybe this is why. daniela_rae 07-15-2007, 01:54 PM My husband is in E-wing. Can I order him the newspaper or order him a paperback book from the publisher while he's in RC? MattsmominNY 07-15-2007, 07:44 PM I sent my son a single newspaper while he was in reception, I don't know if you were asking about a daily or a weekly paper. You might want to call the mailroom and ask but I would think he should be able to have a paper. You CAN send paperback books. You need to order them from a bookstore, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders or probably any other place on line that sells books. You can send him two books at a time. When my son was in reception he couldn't have any puzzle books (?) which never made any sense to me. I sent him a word puzzle book and a Soduku book that they made him mail to me (they took the money out of his "trust fund"). I used to recommend Overstock.com, but they have been giving me a real run around about an order I placed June 30, they shipped on July 2, it was processed by USPS and left Richmond CA and is still not delivered. Richmond is the regional processing center and is 62 miles from Tracy. It doesn't take a genius to know it's lost somewhere but Overstock will not do anything until July 24!!! I had the exact thing happen with Amazon and they sent out a replacement right away after just a few days of not showing up in the USPS system. I will never buy from Overstock again and will never recommend them again, they need to learn about customer service. I've spent $100's with them over the last 3 or 4 years so they have lost a long time customer. Ok, I'll stop whining and ranting now, sorry, I just got carried away, I have been so upset with them. beltser 08-01-2007, 01:19 PM Does anyone know how long you stay in reception at DVI? mY HUSBAND HAS BEEN THERE FOR OVER A MONTH NOW. daniela_rae 08-01-2007, 02:26 PM The last time my hubby was at dvi he was in rc for 5 long months!! He is there again and so far it's been a month. He did talk to his counsler last week so I hope he will main-line soon so he can call me. I was denied visits so letters is all we have!!:( Aliwant24 08-02-2007, 12:29 AM My husband has been there since December. daniela_rae 08-02-2007, 03:01 AM My hubby is now at Old Folsom..... when or how long until he can call me? Tricksie2645 08-02-2007, 10:56 PM My son in Reception there almost exactly a month. I was surprised. That was in May, this year. I think he was mainlined about a week after he saw his counselor. Hope it's the same for you. meandshawn 08-18-2007, 03:26 AM My boyfriend has been in reception since May 23, 2007 and he has not even seen his counselor yet. He has put in many requests but only learned her name last week. His address starts with an F. He's having a real hard time adjusting there. MattsmominNY 08-18-2007, 07:28 AM My boyfriend has been in reception since May 23, 2007 and he has not even seen his counselor yet. He has put in many requests but only learned her name last week. His address starts with an F. He's having a real hard time adjusting there. Most of the new inmates have CDC numbers that start with the letter F, at least it seems that way to me. It was really hard for my son, too, when he was in reception. It was taking a long time for the mail to get to him, it was at least a month before he got my first letter and I started writing the day he got to DVI. I called the new inmate records at DVI to get his number and mailing address the first day he was there. The only thing you can do to make it easier is keep writing and let him know you are out there. Have you been able to visit? This whole system is designed to make it hard on the inmates and their friends and families. I wish I could be more help, all I know to say is just keep writing. hisgirl2010 08-18-2007, 11:25 AM Is the "F" in his CDC # or is it his dorm? Like Mattsmom said just keep writing. reception is not a fun place for them to be and if it is his first time in it can be even worse. They are in no hurry there to process them through. Hopefully you are getting visitis by now that helps alot. They just need love and support. My fiance has been at DVI for over a year now so if you have any questions feel free to PM me. Cristian's lady 10-19-2007, 03:32 AM My boyfriend has been in DVI since August. I was just approved and hope to visit Sunday!! Wish me luck on calling in in a few hours haha Does anyone know if my mom and I and my sister who's 11 visit my boyfriend at the same time?? Cristian's lady 10-25-2007, 04:33 AM My only complaint about DVI so far is the way their system works to call for visits, its sucks!!!! :( I got through last time but his area was full and couldn't get in to see him..im tryin' again for this weekend! I can't wait to see him! its been like 3 months or so since I've seen him I believe. God bless. Cristian's lady 10-26-2007, 01:36 AM Does ANYone know if the visits at DVI are in a private little room or everyone (all the other visitors) can hear you talking?? MattsmominNY 10-26-2007, 06:45 AM Does ANYone know if the visits at DVI are in a private little room or everyone (all the other visitors) can hear you talking?? I don't know but I would guess there is no privacy. Are you asking about mainline visiting or reception visiting? I've never heard of any visiting anywhere in a private little room. I'm fairly sure that in reception you visit with glass between you and the inmate and use a phone handset to talk. All of those phone handset visits are monitored and recorded. (The same as the collect phone calls are monitored and recorded.) I'm sure someone who actually knows the procedure at Tracy will be along to give you a better answer. Cristian's lady 10-27-2007, 07:13 PM Thank you I pretty much know what to expect there. When he was in county there were private rooms but it was the same in that there was a glass between us and used phones to talk. It was nice though. He is still in reception at DVI. Thank you for your time. |
