My ex is in transit ....just left USP Victorville and now he's listed at USP Atwater. From what I've read on these threads they seem to be on lockdown constantly and I worry about the gang situation. He's an extremely muscular guy and I fear he'll be drug into one of the gangs just to survive. When I seen they were taking him to a max my heart sank. We were hoping for a low and not in California.

Atwater has a lower security section also. There used to be kind of like two prisons there but they combined the two for whatever reason. Not everyone sent there is needing maximum security. The way my guy explained it to me is that it is two prisons surrounded by the same fences. One max one not. If you have any specific questions im me and I can ask my old guy when he calls tomorrow. The reason they were locked down so much at the end of the year was 1. some idiot boiled babyoil in the micro-wave and then threw it on someone. 2. a fight over a sporting event. 3. the head gaurd got stabbed. this all took place from the end of october thru the end of december. they get locked down for a week out for a week,etc, etc, . they have not been locked down in a while. knock on wood, at least not for more then a night or a couple of hours in the mornings.
