I understand there is a new bill attached to the Home Land Security Bill increasing good time. Does anyone know anything about it?

Not happening. It's only a rumor. You have to remember who is running things in Washington, D.C. right now. For better, or for worse (you have to decided) the republicans are in charge (well mostly). And as long as they are in positions of control (and they do have many democratic supporters) I do not expect any major changes to federal sentencing law. Ashcroft for one, seems to be tightening the noose, rather than loosening it. He is the one forcing the BOP to take a more strict approach to halfway house; he's the one monitoring federal judges who grant downward departures; etc.

I really do not see the laws affecting federal inmates to change much anytime in the near future.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it is just my opinion.

It depends on which state you are in. Ohio just RE-IMPLEMENTED goodtime effective 1/1/04. First time since 1996, however, it doesn't help anyone convicted/sentenced from 1996-2003....go figure. Check the state forums. Hope this posts gives you some ideas. Good luck!

If it is attached to the Home Land Security Bill then it would refer to federal inmates, not state inmates. As of right now, there is no such bill.

hey does anyone know anything about the new law that supose to have went into effect in arizona about doing 65% of time rather than 85%? good time that is.or what all the news was about the over crowded prison in arizona and what there going to do about it. thanks I've heard so many things I don't know what is what.
