Hi,

A close friend of mine is being paroled in 3 months. He is 3 years clean and sober, and was planning to go straight into a long term residential drug treatment facility. He has no family in California, and is being released to Orange County (where he committed his crimes). I was hoping to get him into a facility closer to me, in Northern California. He is a high risk parolee. Does anyone here have any experience with this type of thing. I don't even know where to start. Would it even be possible, or worth a more extensive inquiry? Any help you could offer would be GREATLY appreciated.

Oh, and also, does anyone here have any connection to the friends on the outside program in Northern California, specifically visits to the Solano/Soledad are. Please let me know.

Thanks!!

Parole transfers have to be done through the parole officer assigned to the case. Here, it's usually it's not a big deal - basically the officer assigned has to agree and the officer accepting the case has to agree. If he's not allowed to transfer right away, then he can continue to request to be transferred throughout the process.

If I can be of any help, just ask. But I'm not around the area you want. I think, I'm the only one in here, that's this far North (Stockton) in CA?

So is it all up to him to get the ball rolling? Can I do anything? Write anyone?? Or should I just set up his rehab for him?

Thanks for responding so quickly, both you and the friend from Stockton!

Hi, this is Cliff. I read your post and wanted to tell you that Solano County and San Francisco County are closed to parole transfers due to the fact that they have full case loads. But if you want to find a treatment center that will accept him, have that treatment center get a hold of his parole agent in the county he's paroling to and try it that way. Him being high control is what's going to hurt his chances of that happening.
Good luck.
