My fiancee's in Suffolk County right now awaiting his chance at Shock. He just found out he needs to fill out an application to do so. Does anyone know how he goes about doing that? His multi-million dollar lawyer is useless and won't even call him back in jail. Thanks!!! :)

He goes to Reception or processing in the state system after sentencing. It is good if the judge says he thinks he would be a candidate for shock but this is not a guarantee. (non-violent crime, first time in-, 40 or less are some of the GENERAL criteria). His Pre-sentencing report plays a role-if that is not done yet, make sure it is correct. When he gets to reception, he will meet with a counsellor who will tell him he is shock eligible. Then he will be shipped to Lakeview Shock, which is the Shock Reception facility. They evaluate him and decide if he is accepted or bnot. If accepted he wait till a platoon is formed. There are several shock camps throughout NY, including Lakeview. I will post some links for you.

The judge at sentencing sid he wouls strongly recomnd shock ion his report and both his lawyer and DA agreed on that recommendation. He has already been in Riverhead for a week. Do you know how long it takes before he transfered somewhere where he can see this conselor and try to get in the program? THank you!!!:)

facility within 2 weeks of being sentenced. All of this information is what usually happens. Then they go to regulaer reception-Downstate, Ulster, Elmira. They will meet with a counsellor at one of these and find out if they are to be sent to be evaluated for Shock. From there, if they are to be evaluated for Shock, they get sent to Lakeview. That is where the final decision whether they will go to Shock is made. If they are going to Lakeview, they are usually in regular reception less than 2 weeks. USUALLY.

Hey, first I want to say thank you for all the answers I have recieved they have been extremely helpful. I have one more question. One of my fiance's cellmates has been through shock and was telling him about it. He told him that while you are there, there are tons of things you need to memorize including a mission statment, and treatment philosphies that you have to recall word for word on command. Does anyone know what it is that has to be memorized and what happens day to day? Any info would be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks!!:)

if you want to have it for him to memorize beforehand
ummmmmmm no

it is memorized and it's not hard

there are several "philosophies" ( not sure that's what they are called )and the Di's will command recital of them and sometimes all of them sometimes just one or two but not in order when it's one or two.

I could ask what they were but I do know my answer would most likely be

" NO "

Will the celly tell him what they were or does he not "remember" them ?

It's not a hard program but it is intense and very physically demanding.

the days are filled and no sitting around

I know I've posted some things and found many more so look around and you will find a lot of info on how it goes.
