Ok, this may not be news to those of you that have been around a while. However, I experienced a "223 Violation" last night while on the phone.

The word 'VIOLATION' is not something you want to hear so I got on the phone with MCI (as you know, that is NEVER fun).

Come to find out a 223 Violation is an attempted 3-way call (or a suspected attempt, anyway). I was told that cordless phones can cause these types of errors. (I like "ERROR" better than "VIOLATION"!)

I bought a regular corded phone today so we will see what happens.

I was assured that no block would be put on for ONE of these errors, but if a pattern of suspected attempted 3 way calls begins then some action could be taken.

Ok, just thought I would share for those of you who many not know.

Thanks,

I knew we were not allowed three way calls but I had never heard a cordless could cause that. I use a cordless and have for months without a problem....maybe MCI's way of covering their mistakes to blame it on us.Sorry this happened to you...have you gotten calls since without a problem??? Kitty

Hello Miss Kitty,

Yes, I am still getting calls and the prison administration has not said anything about it to her so I hope it was just a good lesson for me!

Thanks,

I was wondering if I was going to be away from home and my husband was going to call if I could forward my home phone to my cell? Has anyone ever tired that?? I saw the posts about the "violations" (I agree, that's such a harsh word). I didn't want to have my number blocked. Would forwarding your phone cause any problems?? THANKS!!

JimmysBabyGirl,

YES, that will cause problems. Problems with both MCI and ADC. The inmate can get a Disciplinary if a three-way call or call forward is detected.

I know people get away with it to some degree but I really don't want to cause problems for my loved one.

Thank you very much!! I definitely will not do that then....The last thing in the world I want to do is cause him any problems!!
