My sister came to me the other day telling me of this guy she used to baby sit for who had killed his baby and has served 6mo. in county for it and that was it. Now I don't know how true this is Because we live in a town of gossip. But what I want to know is if this is true why is it my town punishes people who took peoples things(car’s, money, exc.) stuff that really should not matter a lot to us, people who do this kind of stuff get punished more than people who take a life of another, a kid his own kid at that. I just don't get this. This town is known for this. I think that Jay Leno even said once on the tonight’s show that if you want to get away with murder go to Christian county.

It's typical that if a guy kills his child, he'll get a comparatively light sentence. Let a woman kill her child, though, and they'll hang her. If a guy kills a child and they deem the woman could have done something to prevent it, she'll get more time than he does, too. It's crazy.

Yeah they are so quick to lock a peron up for little stuff but then they are all saying prisons are so over populated oh no what are we to do. well lets start with not locking a person up every chance we get how about that and they are getting stricter and stricter on all this sh#t it is getting to the point of locking a person up insted of getting them the help they need. Right, there is a reison that people do the things they do. Do they think locking them up with the other people that do the same things will make it better. I have thought this ever since I was In school they put the kids who cause trouble in a room with others who cause trouble how dose this help? I just don't get it. I guess the point I started out to make is sometimes I just think the wrong people are in prison.

Well dont worry if you do anything in that concerns a child the inmates will get him trust me his 6 months were hell unless he went to P.C.

I work at a daycare, in the infant room, and I once had a 12 week old baby come in who was in foster care. He was a victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome....not killed but almost....and his father's maximum sentence is 7 years in prison.
I find it very hard to believe that someone, anyone, who kills a child, or even hurts one could only get 6 months. Maybe he got out on bail, and will end up going back...but to prison this time. Something had to of happened in order to only serve 6 months!

It could have been something like blaming him for lack of medical care. i'm sure he didn't outright intentionally kill the baby and just get 6 months.

Yes, CET, guys do get piddly little amounts of time for killing their babies and their girlfriends' babies. Here in Oregon, they let one guy go on just a few months plus time served for beating his girlfriend's baby to death while she was at work. SHE got 7 years! Even though they proved that not only was she not there at the time, she was also scared to death of him herself for his abuse of her.

Same guy got married, got the wife pregnant, and stomped her in the belly at 7 months pregnant after telling her he was going to kill the baby. I don't think they could get away with sending HER up the river for that or they probably would have. A man who kills a child is often given much less time than the mother is given either for the same crime or for not protecting the child.

Check out statistics for guys who kill their wives as opposed to women who have killed husbands after years of being abused. You'll find that the women fare far worse in sentencing than the men do. Men get less time for killing their women and kids than for killing strangers, too.

Well, ladies here is the truth. In Illinois we have a little thing called mandatory sentencing. The sentencing is based on offense and prior convictions, even offenses as a juvenile. So if he was found guilty of murfering that baby he will get anywhere from 20 to life with no parole and not have a prior record.
I know this because my innocent friend just got resentenced for murder of a child under 12 and that is the law. His girlfriend on the other hand got 1 year and did 10 months. She was not convicted on murder, but got aggravated battery instead. They don't pick sentences out of no where in Illinois. There are rules and regulations set forth so someone doesn't get 6 months for murder. I bet the guy was originally brought in on a charge for murder and the prosecutor actually plead a deal out so to save time, money, and the possiblility he would walk with nothing. Mandatory sentencing is also the reason we don't have a parole board any longer.Three strikes of any 3 felonies will give you life in this state. If you have a prior conviction of a felony then misdeamnor charges can be put at a felony level as well.
I know a lot about the law from experience with my man and 4 friends, as well as going to school for law. Don't let rumors make you mad until you know the truth.
