View Full Version : I have Questions about Soledad Prison
Mrs.Juan143 01-26-2007, 07:52 PM Today I received the letter stating that he has finally been transferred but not to where we hoped. I have so many questions that I just don't know where to start.
First does the letters that I sent to San Quentin get sent to him at soledad or sent back to me? Since I was approved at San Quentin I should be able to visit at Soledad? He got transferred on the 24th so this weekend can I visit? Is it the same dress code? and he is in the North Facility if that helps anyone.
I'm sorry to hear that he did get transferred to where you had hoped, but wanted to welcome you to Soledad regardless! There are lots of us on here who have loved ones there, and will be happy to help answer all your questions as they come.
The mail you sent to San Quentin should get forwarded to him, but it may take some time. Same thing for any money on his books. You are correct that if you're approved to visit at San Quentin then you will be approved to visit at CTF (Soledad).
As for visiting, I believe that when he first gets there he will be in the classification process for the first few days--do you know from his letter if he is still being classified? It sounds like he might already have been through it and housed since you know that he's on North. If he is already at North then you should be okay to visit this weekend. If he's still being classified then I believe you need to make an appointment to visit, and it's only a short visit behind glass (someone please confirm this!).
I would recommend calling the prison visiting line first thing tomorrow morning and asking. If you give them his CDC# they should be tell you the situation for visiting him. Once you are ready to visit there is LOTS of information in this forum about visiting, so I'd recommend you start there. But then please ask away if anything isn't clear. Visiting at North is crowded, and you have to get there really early in the morning--I'd guess it's about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive from Vallejo. The # for North visiting is (831) 678-3951 ext. 4012
The dress code is pretty standard--you can wear jeans as long as they're not blue, which is different from many other prisons. They are picky about color, so I'd stay away from any clothes in blues and greens. They are also picky about low cut tops, so I recommend wearing something that comes up pretty high--even normal scoop or v-necks are seen as too low most of the time.
Again, please let us know if you have other questions or any of us can be of more help.
JMK
(P.S. My brother is also at CTF-North)

Mrs.Juan143 01-26-2007, 10:56 PM Thank you for the welcome!!!
JMK ---Would housing be something like this R-B 123 I used that as an example because their is something like on the envelope
BROWNEYEZ23 01-27-2007, 01:54 AM were you hoping for him to get transferd to vacaville solano? because my husband was at san quentin and were from the bay area (hayward) we hoped for solano because it's so much closer to home. But soledad is not that bad, i have a 2 hour drive and as of rigth now i am okay with it. My husband still hoping to go to solano. Don't worry your mail will make it to ctf and my man is also at north and make sure before you go he all ready saw his counsler at ctf that way you can have a contact visit. it took my man 6 days to see them they have to classifie them to what ever they claim or not. Good luck and if you got questions just ask or pm me:D
Yes, the housing number would be something like your example--2 letters which indicate the building/building side, then 3 numbers which indicate the cell #.
Thank you for the welcome!!!

Mrs.Juan143 01-28-2007, 03:05 PM Thank you so much and he said that he would be in a cell 24hrs for a week intil he is mainlined. We were hoping for Vacaville but the more and more I learn about Soledad Im not even worrying about Vacaville or the 3 hour drive. So should I call before I planning on going just to make sure he is mainlined? Cause Im tired of not being able to be face to face with himmand for him to hold our son. And I sent you a message already Thank you so much for all the info and help! And Im planning on going next weekend maybe saturday or sunday or maybe both if I get a hotel room so I don't have to drive all the way but again thank you!!:D :D

luvmypapabear 01-28-2007, 06:48 PM Welcome Mrs.Juan143! You should be able to visit for sure next weekend. My Hubby was transfered in the middle of the week just like yours and that following weekend I was there. It would be better for you to call just to make sure. I did. Like JMK said check out the SVSP/CTF thread there is alot of valuable information here. And any questions you don't find someone will answer you. As for Hotels, if your coming from up north and don't want to spend to much $ Motel 6 in Salinas is clean and comfortable. Most of the ladies stay at M6 in King City but that would mean for you to drive 30 min south of the prison. If you want to be closer and can spend a little more, try Best Western in Soledad. M6 is a 30 min drive to the prison and BW is a 5 min drive. Good Luck!

ablkjwl 05-07-2008, 07:41 PM Hi Everyone. Just joined today. Have been trying to visit nephew who's been down 17 yrs. I was denied once:( and once he told me to send it to the training facility. Never heard from em. I was expunged last year myself. This time I have attached my whole DOJ printout. I feel so helpless. Please help.
luvmypapabear 05-07-2008, 07:59 PM Send the form to the same address you would mail to him but write Attention Visitor Processing . If you include it in a letter you are sending to him it will be taking out and forwarded to the visiting also but I think it's better just to send it alone and directly to Attn: Visitor Processing . When you are approved your nephew will let you know and if you are disapproved they will send you something in the mail telling you why...If you are disapproved I think you can send a letter to the warden also asking him to approve you for visiting... somewhere on PTO I think someone posted all the things to say in the letter...I'll try to find it for you...
Good luck!
