Prisoner Requests Help with Family Research and Cultural Materials
From: Joe R. Galindo #1098925, 3801 Silo Rd., Bonham, TX 75418
I am a 42-year old male from North Texas. I’ve been practicing my Native American rituals since I was young, bit never really applied them to my life until about 5 or 6 years ago. My grandmother and great-grandmother taught me the ways of the medicine, the natural ways of healing, caring for our kin in the animal world and spiritual worlds.

I would like to request any information on the Navajo and Comanche tribes, as well as the Apache tribes. In addition, I would like some help tracing my roots on the Mexican American side of my family. My father’s name is Jesus Galindo Sr. and my mother’s maiden name was Helen Mireles-Guerrero. Guerrero being my grandmother’s maiden name Petra (Betty) Guerrero. My father was the only son of 1 of 3 husbands of my father’s mother.

Any help you can provide would be most appreciated.

Here's a great link of NA Genealogy Research databases. As one who has had to trace and document my on Native ancestry, I know how difficult this can be. I can not imagaine how it would be to try to do so from inside. Creator help him!

I'm personally too commit with other prison penpals right now to actually do alot of research for your friend Joe myself, but I got his address and will write and perhaps this winter when things aren't so busy for me, I can help him more.

In the meantime, those of you that can or would like to, check out some of these databases for the ancestral info he gives! I do hope it helps!

Thank you Whitewolf. I know he'll be glad to hear from you, even if you can't help him right now.

The state of Michigan has bought access to the more extensive and very expensive Genealogy sites.....but I have to go to the library to get to them...

I'll write down his information and see what I find the next time I go do some research.....but it may be a few weeks due to my work schedule!

Well, it would be more helpful if we knew what tribe he is from. Is he from a Mexican tribe or North American Native American? I can probably direct you to some links for learning Mexican indigenous culture--but unfortunatley there a lot of controversy out there and contradictions. Its best to find an elder to learn from. As far as geneology, I don't know much about it.

I'll write to him. I have time on my hands and can do some research for him. I hope he is still interested.
Thanks Dee:)

Thank you! I didn't have time to do it myself but I hoped someone here would find the time.

I wrote him, sent a few cultural things, the geneology I have not been to successful with, but still trying. I'm sure at least a friendly letter will be a good thing.

I got a letter from Joe today. He is having some health tests done, but otherwise seems in good spirits.
