View Full Version : Need information about Jamestown SCC, ASAP!
Mrs.JackR 01-24-2007, 02:09 AM Hey everyone! My husband was recently moved to SCC Jamestown, and I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers to in the threads or the Jamestown guide. Please help!
1. How many pictures can I send per envelope?
2. Are they really only allowed 25 pictures total? And if so, does that mean he has to throw away all the extra pictures he brought with him from San Quentin?
3. We sent in the form, but he wasn't at Quentin for long enough to be told if I was approved yet. Should I have him send a new visitation (106) form? Is there anyone I can speak to at SCC to tell me if I'm already approved?
4. I'll be traveling over 300 miles to see him. Does that mean I get a longer visit? Are there any privileges/breaks given to people in my situation who have to travel so far?
5. Do I make an appointment for regular visiting? If so, when?
6. Does he have to send me the papers for family visits, or can I get them elsewhere? How does that whole thing work??
Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your time!!!
Love and Respect,
Mrs.JackR
luvnmyinmate 01-24-2007, 02:40 AM 1. 10 pictures per envelope.
2. I think the amount varies by prison
3. You will have to reapply
4. Yes, if they try to terminate your visit in visiting just tell them you came from more than 250 miles and they should not temrinate on the first day. they can on the second more than likely will not. if he has not had a visit in over 6 months they will not terminate.
6. Regular visits do not require an appointment. Non contacts usually do.
7. He arranges the family visit. there are coniditons. You have to have so much money on his books and if he owes restitution you have to specify the money is for the family visit so they do not take restitution out.

I've never visited a prison before...what do you mean by "terminate" the visit? Does that mean turn me away when I get there?
luvnmyinmate 01-24-2007, 02:50 AM No, you will go in and visit him but if visiting gets full and your one of the first to get there you will be one of the first asked to leave. Just tell them this is your first visit and you came from more than 250 miles away.

Mrs.JackR 01-24-2007, 04:16 AM Also, are there lockers available to store purses, cell phones, etc. during visiting, or should those items be left in the car?
luvnmyinmate 01-24-2007, 04:46 AM This is all your allowed to take in. Get a clear plastic purse, 1 key on a key ring, not sure about money but i would say best bet is go buy quarters from a bank. It varieds on if it 20-30 a prison. Most i have been to are $30.00 a prison but i take in $40.00 and they don;t look or count it. No lockers, keep cell phone in your purse and turn it off before you pull up if there is a gaurd at the gate.

Thanks, Tater. You're right, I'm so excited! And I'm also a little nervous because I want to do everything just right so the process goes smoothly we can have the maximum possible amount of time together.:)
Are there color restrictions on clothing (aside from the "no denim" thing)? What colors/styles/cuts of clothing do you seasoned veterans reccomend?
tatersalad 01-25-2007, 11:18 AM The safest thing I always say is
I dress like I'm going to court
They say 1st impressions make a difference
so my rule is I dress to impress the guards who will allow me in
and ;) although the men would LOVE to see sexy
I say class makes a better statement
I'm sure you know his taste and will pull it off so everyone can remain safe and happy with no worries
well except for vending machine choices :) that's always my worry

What kinds of vending machines are they? I've seen fancier vending machines that have fresh, unpackaged food before... Is it just standard vending machine stuff like cookies and chips, or are there more substantial items as well like sandwiches or burgers?
Lucky for me, my husband thinks classy clothes are sexiest, so I'm sure he'll be really pleased with my choices.;)
Thank you again for the info, Tater!
